Job Summary

As Oracle Apps DBA you are responsible for architecting, provisioning, configuring, scaling, and bench marking multiple clusters and environments of Oracle eBusiness Suite (EBS) applications for application delivery. You share the Apps DBA ownership of the NetApp quoting system, an Oracle EBS application, that has complex configuration and challenging business SLAs. NetApp Quoting EcoSystem and that connects with diverse boundary systems like CRM, Customer Master, Fusion Middleware, Single Sign On (SSO), external vendor systems over B2B gateway, etc.

You will need to collaborate closely with multiple stakeholders of Quoting EcoSystem, like application and technology owners, business analysts, application architects, and operations leads in matrix environment, and own and deliver Oracle Apps platform for multiple projects of application development.

Job Requirements

  • Provision or enhance Oracle Apps clusters. Understand requirements from the project teams, application & technology stakeholder, and design the right technology solution
  • Influence application and solution architecture from Apps DBA perspective.
  • Own and drive Apps DBA part of solution in all Enterprise projects
  • Should align with Enterprise DevOps initiative and drive automation in Apps DBA area wrt Release automation and Instance Refresh Automation
  • When required, provide directions to vendor Apps DBA L2 teams on KBR activities.
  • Contribute to Releases from technology planning and dependency perspectives
  • Should collaborate in complex matrix organization with many stakeholders, with limited management direction.
  • Work with vendor team in staff augmentation, and MSP models
  • Contribute to strategic and tactical project deliverables
  • Design technology for high availability, redundancy, clustering, etc to enable continued business availability
  • Troubleshoot performance problems, optimize and fine-tune application instances
  • Design and develop backup and recovery strategy
  • Technically mentor junior colleagues
  • Should deal with competing priorities, and multi task.
  • The usual tasks of this role are non-routine and unstructured, requiring creative solutions.
  • Occasional travel 0-10% may be needed.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor degree in Computer Science, or other branches of Engineering / Science is required.
  • 12+ years of experience in IT is required.
  • At least 6+ years of experience in Oracle eBusiness Suite (EBS) R12 and WebCenter Portal,
  • Experience with Oracle EBS, connected with other systems through Oracle FMW
  • Should be an expert Core DBA (10g and 11g, RAC) and Apps DBA (Ebiz R12, Portal 11g)
  • Demonstrated ability to have completed multiple, moderately complex technical tasks.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to work with cross functional teams
  • Should have hands-on experience in RAC DB, PCP, etc.
  • Should have resolved critical, performance issues, suggested alternatives, workarounds, etc.
  • Advance user level experience with Unix / Linux
  • Extensive experience with one or more of scripting tools -  Ansible, Perl, Unix Shell, Java Script, Python, etc.
  • Administrative experience of one or more of Web Servers like Apache, Oracle OHS, IIS
  • Administrative experience of one or more of Java Containers - WebLogic, OC4J, TomCat, JBoss
  • Excellent understanding of Operating Systems, Networks, Cloud solutions, Applications Security, PKI, Web Services required
  • Should have good understanding of multiple Enterprise COTS applications.
  • Understanding or experience of [docker] containers, Kubernetes, and OpenShift is a plus.
