Job Summary

As a member of the Development Tools and Services (DevTS) IP Audit Services team, you will provide administrative support for the day-to-day use of the Black Duck Protex  and CodeCenter tools used for  managing open source license compliance.  These tools integrate with existing development tools to scan, identify, and inventory open source software, allowing you to understand license obligations, conflicts and risks. This enables to mitigate these risks by enforcing license compliance and corporate policy requirements. Protex helps to   scan, identify, and inventory open source software, allowing NetApp to understand license obligations, conflicts, and mitigate risks by enforcing license compliance and corporate policy requirements. In addition to resolution of issues identified in the source code scans, you will also be responsible for creation of Projects, user accounts and assignment of project access. To be successful in this role, you must have strong knowledge of open source software and licensing methods, must be a motivated self-starter with excellent problem-solving skills and a strong willingness to help internal customers using the audit service.  

Job Requirements

Essential Functions of the job:

  • Admin support for the day-to-day use of the Black Duck Protex
  • Strong knowledge of scanning and identifying Open source license compliance used in software development.
  • Analyze reports from the software audits
  • Deliver accurate assessments of IP, licensing, and security issues as detected by the open source audit tools.
  • Communicate Intellectual Property liability issues and application security issues as found by the scanning tools to internal technology groups.
  • Research license issues and verify correct commercial licensing obligations.
  • Determine / recommend remediation steps for all issues found.
  • Document processes and using Confluence tool.
  • Find opportunities to improve efficiency through tools automation and process improvement.

 

Job Requirements:

  • Advanced knowledge of open source software, market, licenses, and other issues regarding use and remediation (correction / fixes) of commercial and FOSS (Free and Open Source Software) IP issues in software.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering.
  • 6-8 years of experience with minimum of 3 yrs of experience in administering any of the Open Source IP Auditing Tools (Black Duck or Palamida).
  • Familiarity in Linux Systems.
  • Automation/tools development experience using shell scripts, perl/python & Java.
  • Knowledge on Code Center (tool from Blackduck) is added advantage
  • Must possess excellent problem-solving skill.
  • High energy with the capability to multi-task in a dynamic, rapidly growing organization.
  • Excellent communication skills to interact with other stake holders within the organization.

Education

Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 3 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD without experience; or equivalent work experience.
