Job Summary

As a Human Resources Instructional Designer would provide creative and technical expertise by building interactive and engaging learning solutions to support the goals of the Global Talent Enablement organization. Instructional Designer needs to possess a deep understanding of design principles involved in creating cutting edge, powerful, interactive learning solutions and have experience working in a learning organization. The person must demonstrate understanding of technical constraints and opportunities, demonstrate skills in current web technologies. In addition, the person must understand leadership development and performance management in a progressive Human Resource Organization, scaling learning for a global learning organization, and most importantly, is obsessed with creating an excellent user experience.

The Instructional Designer would enable the global NetApp Talent Enablement Organization to design and execute simple, effective and scalable learning experiences leading to more innovative, intuitive and compelling user experiences both digital and real time.

Job Requirements

Instructional Designer plays a key role in the work of the Global Talent Enablement organization by building learning solutions and demonstrating a breadth and depth of knowledge in the following areas:

  • Develop web-based learning solutions, using the appropriate mix of development and prototyping platforms, languages and tools
  • Collaborate with program managers, and other stakeholders in HR and business, understanding and implementing solutions for use in a variety of learning interventions.
  • Work with the team to effectively use Learning Management Systems (LMS), to house and implement learning solutions, plus track data that can be used to evaluate and enhance learning programs.
  • Work with the team to identify learning needs, program and project managers and other key stakeholders where appropriate.
  • Recognize and champion best practices in Instructional Design Technology, inform design based on knowledge of the delivery platform, appropriately implement simulations, video and audio, prototype solutions for generative inputs, ask the right questions at the start of a project and clearly communicate and share results.
  • Understand that the learner is the key customer – and that effective learning design leads to a positive experience for all. Design and build solutions for the learner’s sake, not for the sake of design or technology.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Instructional Design, Computer Science, Telecommunications, or similar  field
  • Working knowledge of high-performance driven HR and learning organizations
  • Familiarity with xAPI, SCORM, LMS, LRS
  • Collaboration with program and instructional design teams to define information architecture, and advocate for web interaction design best practices with a focus on consistency, usability and scalability
Education
Typically requires a minimum of 8 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 6 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 3 years experience; or equivalent experience.
