Job Summary

Information Systems Engineer: Performs IT functions such as design, analysis, evaluation, testing, debugging and implementation of the windows and windows virtualization platform within the IT Engineering team. This job will require a full set of skills from interfacing with the business partners, support center and various other technical and engineering teams. This is a fast paces environment in which you need keen skills in the maintaining of critical windows operating systems maintenance, patching knowledge, debugging of newer systems as well as certifying new hardware platforms. over 80% of the work involved virtualization within our FlexPod environment which is managed by Cisco's UCS Manager using vSphere managing our complex VMware environment including ESX hypervisors and dedicated applications. In addition, virtualization is rolled out to NetApp HCI environment that supports other critical IT applications. As a successful team member, you will need to have a broad knowledge of the enterprise compute environment inclusing Linux VM management. Creating critical documents and Knoldege Based articles are a routine function for this role.

Job Requirements

•Strong oral and written communication skills.
•Knowledge of Windows, Linux, and VMware operating systems, and their use in public cloud.
•A strong understanding of the storage industry, private and public cloud environments, virtualization and cloud management stacks (ex: OpenStack, vCenter, vCloud Director, etc..)
•In-depth knowledge of Public/Hybrid Cloud Infrastructure and Cloud Service Providers (GCP, Azure, AWS)
•Experience and working understanding of multiple coding and scripting languages including Perl, Python, PHP, UNIX shell, Ruby and Ansible.
•A focus on automating processes is desired.
•Knowledge of SAN and NAS storage concepts; NetApp hardware and software experience desirable.
•Must have excellent knowledge of Service Now and the inner working of the hardware to application components and modules and the inter-relationships Service Now allows.
•Ability to work collaboratively with other team members and external parties to support deadlines; ability to work independently as well.
•Ability to follow standard and team-defined engineering principles and practices and handle multiple tasks concurrently with competing deadlines.
•History of collaboration with IT operations, multiple business functions, and other departments.
•Strong aptitude for learning new technologies and understanding how to utilize them in a customer-facing environment


Essential Functions:
•Diagnose and resolve technical issues that occur in the system infrastructure and/or lab environments.
•Assist the command center in resolving escalated issues within the IT environment and respond to other engineering towers requests for support, to include creating engineering documents, KB articles related to the NetApp IT Foundational Services.
•Drive lab development for testing new hardware and creating standardized documentation for document repositories for use by team members in their daily activities.
•Actively develop new skills with the technologies employed across the service.
•Upgrade and maintain any Core services that is owned and managed by the Data Center and Compute Services (DCCS) team.


Desired Education and Experience

•A minimum of 5 years of experience is required; 6 to 8 years of experience is preferred.
•A Bachelor of Sciences Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or other related field is required; or equivalent experience.
•Demonstrated ability to have completed multiple, moderately complex technical tasks..
