Job Summary

As a Patch Engineer you will work as part of a team responsible for participating in the delivering and building patches for NetApp storage applications. In addition, you will participate in activities that include smoke testing of patches and own and maintain organizational metrics and the associated application portal. 

Essential Functions:

- Building patches

- Responsible for providing support in handling and smoke testing of patches

- Automation for patches

- Scripting knowledge

- Testing and/or Unit Testing

-  Participate in technical discussions within the team or other groups within the Business Unit associated with specified projects

- Willing to work on additional tasks and responsibilities that will contribute towards team, department, and company goals

Job Requirements

Patch development experience

Knowledge in Build scripts - Basic knowledge in Unix and Windows to handle Build scripts.

Knowledge in Shell/Perl scripts

Experience in working with source control software like Perforce/Clear case etc.

Experience in frontend technologies like JavaScript/ExtJS/PHP is an added advantage.

Basic Knowledge of any Database like MySQL, Oracle

Strong oral and written communication skills are essential.

Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment of other engineers to meet aggressive goals and high quality standards.

Ability to follow standard engineering principles and practices.

Creative approach to problem solving.

Flexibility and high availability

High task closure skills and perfection in handling patch process

The ideal candidate will be a proactive contributor and subject matter expert on team projects. This individual must demonstrate favorable results through coaching and influencing others.

Good cross-functional collaboration and follow-up skills

Education

A Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related field; or 2 or more years of experience in building patches for Windows/Unix. - Demonstrated proficiency in an area of expertise is a strong plus, including 2 or more years of experience working in that area of expertise
