Job Summary

This position in the NetApp Global Services organization is responsible for working on Engineering escalations and advanced product engineering customer issues. This job comes with highly challenging responsibilities and intense learning. Engineers work individually and as part of a team committed to diagnosing and debugging of ONTAP Operating Systems at code level and providing fixes to customer reported software issues. The Engineering escalations and product problems can range from various hardware and/or software issues/defects with the NetApp filers to multi-system architectures. Strong code level software troubleshooting, debugging, problem solving skills are essential and required.

Essential Functions:
Responsible for debugging the ONTAP Operating System kernel and various subsystem involved in it, and identify the Root Cause of the system software faults. Provide a fix for the problem and also provide workaround to the problem. This position also involves opportunity for working on NetApp's cutting edge technologies by providing inputs to future designs for supportability. Demonstrate willingness to work on additional tasks and responsibilities that will contribute towards team, department and company goals. This position also involves periodic, rotational weekend work.

Responsibility :
- Responsible for a mix of structured and unstructured tasks
- Apply attained experiences and knowledge in solving routine to moderately complex problems
- May work with teams across the company in problem solving and design efforts

Job Requirements

- This position requires 3-5 years of experience with a strong background in kernel programming / OS internals.

- Proficiency in C, Data structures and debugging techniques is a must.

- Must have full commitment to sound software engineering practices and a passion for quality.

- Experience with File Systems, multi-processor architectures is desirable.

- Understanding of storage systems (Storage, File Systems and/or NAS/SAN product development experience) is a plus.

- Strong oral and written communication skills are essential

Education

Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 3 years of related experience; or an advanced degree without experience; or equivalent work experience.
