Job Summary

The Revenue Accountant is a key member of the overall revenue team and is responsible for ensuring all revenue contracts are accounted for in accordance with ASC 606 guidelines.  Activities are performed on a daily, monthly and quarterly basis and involve a variety of tasks, some of which include:

  • Reviewing and understanding standard and non-standard agreements
  • Reviewing transacted orders to validate proper accounting
  • Analysis and special accounting for non-standard deals
  • Placement and release of revenue hold reserves and calculation or reserve requirements
  • Review of fair value allocations
  • Monthly and quarterly account analysis, journal entries and reconciliations
  • Management reports
  • Quarterly disclosures
  • Monthly data validations between ERP and Revenue Accounting systems
  • Compliance with revenue SOX controls
  • Ad hoc analysis

Job Requirements

  • Must haves:

  • Chartered Accountant
  • Revenue Accounting experience (ASC 606)
  • Other Requirements:

    • Able to articulate technical revenue accounting guidance and apply in real world situations
    • Ability to collaborate with the rest of the Revenue Team and establish strong cross-functional working relationship with other departments
    • Ability to multi-task which still completing ongoing responsibilities.
    • Demonstrated ability to complete ad hoc projects and analysis answering business questions and evaluating strategic opportunities

      • Reserves
      • Reconciliations
      • Analysis of non-standard transactions
      • Reporting
    • Prepare and or review monthly account reconciliations
    • Prepare support schedules and process overviews for external audit
    • Monthly business review and finance operational reporting
    • Assist in supporting quarterly revenue forecasting
    • Prepare ad hoc reporting for finance, sales, services, etc.
    • Document key processes and desk procedures and cross-train on routine tasks and reporting
    • Support process change and Improvements
    • Support system upgrades and related projects including user acceptance testing
    • Provide back-up coverage when teammates are out of office
    • Detail oriented, organized, able to prioritize work and meet deadlines
    • Handle large volumes of data and multi-task in a fast-paced organization
    • Perform root cause analysis
    • Experience in a high-tech company

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • CPA or Chartered Accountant
  • A minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, preferably related to revenue
  • Ability to influence and partner with business colleagues throughout the organization
  • Attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to meet firm deadlines
  • Strong understanding of the principles of revenue recognition: ASC606
  • Working knowledge of US GAAP and accounting operations
  • Must have great problem-solving skills, be a self-starter, understand business issues and be able to clearly and concisely put together recommendations and implementation plans
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written) are a must have requirement
  • Strong proficiency with Excel (advanced functions)
  • Experience with RevPro and Oracle preferred.
