Job Summary

In this highly visible role, the SEO Specialist is a key member of the NetApp Knowledge Management team, which is part of the Digital Support Organization, whose charter is to shift customers from traditional channels of support (Phone and Chat) to digital channels of support (Knowledge Base, Community, Support site). The SEO specialist will support our self-service initiatives and help execute and manage SEO activities – providing insights, optimization, and reporting. The ideal candidate is data-driven to be successful and knows how to continuously optimize knowledge articles and the knowledge base portal with creativity and the desire to continually learn within the growing digital support environment.  

Responsibilities

  •     Collaborate with Knowledge Base Editorial team to identify and develop new SEO strategies and best practices for achieving quick wins with an eye towards defining long-term best practice methodology
  •     Optimization of page title tag, URL, meta description, headings, alt tags, etc.
  •     Conduct regular technical and on-page SEO audits to determine opportunities and identify areas for improvement.
  •     Observing and analysing data from search performance reports
  •     Recognise opportunities for enhancements and flag potential issues
  •     Monitor weekly technical crawls and develop plans to address them.
  •     Strong understanding of technical SEO including site architecture, 301 redirects, proper canonicalization, internal and external linking, log file analysis, etc.
  •     Off-page SEO including link building and disavowing.
  •     Keyword-content mapping and reporting.
  •     Optimization of internal linking structure and anchor text.
  •     Competitive analysis, share of voice reporting, and keyword gap analysis.
  •     Coordinate with Knowledge Domain Experts and SMEs to support SEO related technical and content initiatives.
  •      Compile process-documentation that enables the engineers or anyone from the organization to follow best SEO practices while creating content

Job Requirements

  •     5+ years of technical SEO experience preferably in an enterprise-level team
  •     Experience (and proficiency) with Search Console, Webmaster Tools and Google Analytics
  •     Ability to create, justify, communicate and implement SEO strategies across teams  
  •     Proficient in using SEO audit tools such as SEMrush, Ahref, etc. and deliver prioritized recommendations beyond what’s simply shown in the tool
  •     Proficient in diagnosing crawling, rendering and indexing issues
  •     Proficient in SEO best practices, especially as it relates to technical SEO: XML Sitemaps, Robots.txt, Javascript rendering, disallow, nofollow, canonical, noindex, etc.
  •     Loves to Learn: As an SEO specialist, you keep up with the latest SEO trends, strategies, algorithm changes and internet marketing industry trends and developments and report changes (and subsequent strategy updates) as needed
  •     Results Driven: Provide detailed metrics on SEO initiatives driven by the team to ensure we meet and exceed performance goals.
  •     Experience with HTML, JavaScript, CSS and other programming related topics
  •     Project Management Skills: Have a systematic approach to plan your work, measure progress, meet deadlines, manage and coordinate with available resources.

Education

 Education and Experience 

  • BA or MA in English or related field.
  • 5-8 years of technical writing/editing experience.
  • Experience with KCSv6 will be a plus
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, juggling priorities and supporting multiple authors and projects.
  • Knowledge of data storage technologies in cluster network and cloud environments a plus.
  • Experience working in a content management system.
