Title:  Lead, Software QA Engineer

Location:

Research Triangle Park, NC, US, 27709 Bellevue, WA, US, 98004

Requisition ID:  34467

Are you data-driven?  We at NetApp believe in the transformative power of data – to expand customer touchpoints, to foster greater innovation, and to optimize operations.  We are designed for simplicity, optimized to protect, created to embrace future opportunity, and open to enrich choice.  We are the data authority for hybrid cloud, and we are helping our customers realize the full potential of their data.

We’ve built a Data Fabric for a data-driven world – to simplify and integrate data management across the resources that are best for the business.  With the Data Fabric, our customers can harness the power of cloud data services, build cloud infrastructures, and modernize storage through data management.

By harnessing the power of hybrid cloud data services, customers gain the freedom of choice to securely manage and move data – anywhere, on any cloud. Only NetApp can help organizations deliver data-rich customer experiences when they rapidly test and deploy new applications that easily use data and services regardless of where they reside or in what form.

Job Summary

As a Lead Automation Engineer, you will be a critical part of the team responsible for building NetApp’s Fabric Orchestrator, the realization of our Data Fabric vision.

You will design and develop the build and test automation to iterate quickly on and continuously validate the quality of the entire cloud service, including the underlying platform and infrastructure, the API, the user interface, as well as extensions made to it.  As the lead automation engineer, you will participate in technical discussions cross-functionally, evaluate the automation needs for new functionality, and work with a larger team to prioritize and collaborate to build the necessary automation, often doing it yourself.

In this role you are expected to develop and extend the underlying automation frameworks, making it easier for anyone on the team to contribute automated builds and tests at the unit, functional, and system levels around new capabilities as they are incorporated into the service, supporting both the developers as well as other automation engineers. You will operate with limited supervision and direction, driving results based on shared priorities. You must be comfortable working collaboratively with a globally distributed team. Most importantly, the quality buck stops with you.

While you won’t be directly operating the service in production, you will be a primary contact for the service’s site reliability engineers. You will lead the troubleshooting of complex issues to resolution that potentially cross multiple disciplines, including networking, security, compute, storage, etc. You will provide knowledge base articles, runbooks, and troubleshooting guides as well.
