Job Summary

We are currently seeking an experienced Solutions Architect to be the key subject matter expert for NetApp Core Technologies (ONTAP) and for complex File Service environments (NFS and CIFS) within a team of other Solutions Architects covering the whole NetApp platform and solution portfolio. The successful candidate will have a strong background in core storage technologies, especially NetApp ONTAP and NAS technologies.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

The Solutions Architect participates in sales projects and is responsible for all technical due-diligence during the sales cycle for these projects. Fundamental ownership of all technical aspects resides here. As a subject matter expert the Solution Architect drives his owned technical focus areas by supporting Go-to-Market and product introduction activities, driving global enablement of the technical account team members (including NetApp channel partners) and negotiating product and solution requirements with the appropriate Program Management teams.

 

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Translate and articulate NetApp’s technical benefits into customer specific solutions
  • Manage and support all aspects of technical product evaluations at customer sites
  • Work collaboratively with other members of the sales team and serve as key technical advisor Lead and/or make significant contributions in response to RFPs, RFQs, and RFIs
  • Develop and deliver technical product demonstrations
  • Prepare and deliver technical product, solution, and architecture presentations
  • Prepare and deliver training (including collaterals and hand-on labs)
  • Create customer case studies and provide input to technical white papers
  • Convey customer requirements back to the Product Management team
  • Represent NetApp at conferences, tradeshows, and other industry events
Job Requirements

Qualified candidates must have strong technical communication skills (both verbal and written) a competitive, positive attitude, creativity, resourcefulness, team spirit, and unbridled determination. Additionally, you will have strong technical skills coupled with a deep knowledge of and appetite for the rapidly changing technologies building software defined infrastructures for developing cutting-edge applications for the private cloud. 

 

More specific requirements include:

  •  
  • Be familiar with all core storage technologies:
    • Storage Systems and Data Management Features
    • SAN and NAS protocols
    • Storage Management (Provisioning & Monitoring)
  • In-depth technical knowledge of:
    • FAS/AFF/ASA systems
    • ONTAP
    • NAS (NFS and CIFS) with a high priority in SMB2/3
    • Fileservice environments based on Microsoft Technologies
      (Active Directory, DFS, Virus Scanning, …)
  • Optional skills:
    • Powershell Programming
    • Databases (MSSQL preferred) and Business Applications

  • Previous work experience with direct customer engagements (pre-sales or post-sales)
  • Proven successful management of on-site customer Proof-of-Concepts and workshops
  • Ability to effectively communicate NetApp's technical value proposition, either in-person and via remote sessions
  • Demonstrated success establishing product feedback loops into product management and engineering
  • Willingness to travel within the EMEA region
  • For this role you must be able to speak and write fluent business English and German
Education

Typically requires a minimum of 12 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 8 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 5 years experience; or equivalent experience.
