Job Summary

The Cloud Pursuit Business Development Manager is responsible for guiding NetApp’s Journey to Cloud strategic engagements with our largest partners.  This senior business development position develops and executes specific Private/Hybrid/Multi/Public-Cloud engagement strategies for a targeted group of partners.  Working closely with Cloud Architects, you will embed NetApp cloud products and services into the solutions, selling and delivery motions of a partner’s cloud practices.  As a business development manager, you will be responsible for setting and driving all GTM related efforts for these solution offerings, ensuring that they drive incremental growth for NetApp.  You must be extremely results-driven, partner focused, experienced at building longer-term engagement strategies, and skilled at building influential internal relationships and external partnerships.

Principal Responsibilities

Partnering with the leadership teams responsible for managing NetApp’s largest strategic partners, Cloud Architects, and peers from both corporate and field-facing teams, you will identify solution areas where the NetApp portfolio of products and services bring unique value-add to Journey to Cloud service offerings. These solutions will ideally leverage the partner’s unique competencies, IP and business model. As a hands-on leader, you will actively lead a cross-functional / cross-organizational team from the front, gain the partner’s sponsorship in the co-development of these offerings, drive business case development, gain commitment to architect, develop, test and document these offerings and drive the creation of other documentation required to achieve acceptance through the partner’s offering governance process. You will set the engagement strategy and own the development and execution of aggressive project plans for these offerings, driving their ultimate successful completion or early qualified failure.

Lead cross-functional/cross-organizational teams in completing of the following primary tasks:

  • Identify, qualify, prioritize and ultimately deliver partner-driven Journey to Cloud offerings containing NetApp cloud products and services (e.g. Cloud Volumes, NetApp Kubernetes Services, HCI, CI, etc)
  • Engage with partner Journey to Cloud teams to gain a deeper, richer understanding of their unique differentiation, their GTM strategy, and ultimately, how they make money from their customers.
  • Work closely with NetApp’s partner leadership teams to shape and align your offering development pursuits within the overall strategic framework of their partner engagement plans.
  • Prioritize and direct the evangelization / development / architecting / training and other offering development activities of the Cloud Architect.
  • Leverage NetApp Product Business Unit resources to enhance and accelerate offering development activities with key partner opportunities.
  • Influence and co-develop internal business cases for prioritizing product operations new product development.
Communication Skills

Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential. Must be able to convey ideas and solutions at an Executive level in a clear, positive and concise manner using diplomacy and persuasive selling. Communication skills must include listening, presentation, and “live” demonstration skills. Must be able to develop professional business and technical presentations and deliver them at all levels in an organization. Able to communicate effectively across large virtual global teams. 

Education & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in business or combination of bachelor’s degree and relevant experience.  Master’s in Business Administration is highly desired.

Seven or more years’ experience in product, solution, and/or offering development in the electronics industry. Experience in working with large global accounts, large consulting and services partners and technology partners is desirable.

  • A business degree, or equivalent experience is required. An MBA is desirable. 
  • 10+ years IT industry experience in development positions where requirements gathering, and solution development are central to the role. 
  • Experience with building data centers and IT infrastructure 
  • Proven experience with public cloud technologies from AWS, Azure, Google, IBM Cloud 
  • Strong project management skills and ability to work cross-functionally with other development teams and partner organizations is a must. 
  • Excellent business acumen with a strong ability to map business requirements to technical solutions. 
  • Compelling communication skills across a wide variety of mediums and situations – including written and verbal communication and in presentations spanning formal and informal, from small to large audience. 
  • Extensive global travel may be required – amounts varying by territory.
