Position Overview
The Engineering Intern will contribute to the enhancement of NetApp’s proprietary operating system, ONTAP. The intern will work closely with the development team to understand the existing ONTAP architecture and support the design and implementation of features that improve simplicity and quality.
This internship provides hands-on exposure to system-level development, operating system fundamentals, AI-enabled data management, documentation, testing, and collaboration within a global engineering environment. Working knowledge of C, C++, and Python is important for success in this role.
This role is open to 3rd year students looking for a 6-month internship as part of their degree program. You should have the unrestricted right to work in Ireland for the entire duration of the internship. Unfortunately, we are unable to provide sponsorship. You are required to come into the Cork office a minimum of three times a week as part of our hybrid work culture.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to developing and optimizing system-level code using C, C++, and Python.
- Build understanding of Unix systems and enterprise-scale functionality.
- Explore and integrate AI-based techniques to enhance data management processes.
- Use AI to explore code functionality, improve existing tests, and develop new features.
- Document design, implementation, and testing processes clearly and consistently.
- Collaborate with engineering teams and receive mentorship while gaining exposure to NetApp data management technologies.
Your Profile
- You must be a current student pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Engineering, or a related technical field.
