Job Summary

The Technical Account Manager (TAM) is an integral member of NetApp’s global account team. The TAM significantly contributes to build and manage the strongest possible relationship with the assigned account especially on the CIO level and towards technical influencers. The TAM is responsible for NetApp’s overall global technical strategy within an enterprise account focusing on the customer’s application requirements. TAMs proactively drive the account technical initiatives and oversee all technical pre-sales activity (presentations, demonstrations, evaluations, etc.) while ensuring that the right expertise is applied where needed.

As the technical sales leader on focus accounts, you will lead and develop technical strategy to increase penetration and solidify defense within the accounts.

• Leadership role supporting and engaging in sales opportunities and deals with technical expertise to assist the sales team to close deals
• Responsible for and provides oversight for Pre-Sales deals (engaging the Architect & Engineer as needed).
• Plays a pivotal role in ensuring 'holistic' delivery to client, by understanding customer’s needs and creating and articulating solutions to the customer.
• Analyze technical needs, requirements, and state of customers’ current infrastructure and operations.
• Identify opportunities and develop technical solutions to meet customers’ needs and requirements.
• Drives and leads process of selection of networking and systems technologies and products for implementation.
• Forecasts opportunities in the CRM tool.
• Partners with business leaders to deliver resources and services that support company objectives that are consistent with NetApp values.

Job Requirements

• Strong verbal and written communications skills, including presentation skills.
• Strong relationship building and negotiating skills.
• Strong understanding of software technologies and competitive offerings in the marketplace.
• Experience with target account selling, solution selling, and/or consultative sales techniques.
• An aptitude for understanding how technology products and solutions solve business problems.
• Demonstrated experience working with Sales organizations and technical teams.
• Demonstrated ability to develop strong relationships with C-level executives, both at the customer and partner level
 

Education
Typically requires a minimum of 8 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 6 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 3 years experience; or equivalent experience.
