Job Summary
This is an individual contributor position in NetApp's Global Procurement organization. As a Freight Data Analyst, you will be working collaboratively with our logistics commodity managers, logistics auditor, contract manufacturers and various departments/functions to ensure best in class logistics cost efficiencies for our worldwide supply chain logistics.
As subject matter expert of NetApp's end to end supply chain freight logistics cost structure, identify opportunities for reducing costs. To thrive in this position, you should have a passion to analyze information and convert data into insights. You must be highly motivated, self-directed, detail oriented, analytical, with extensive knowledge of supply chain structure. To succeed in this role, you will need to work collaboratively across multiple departments and functions.
This role will work with EMS partners to understand the best supply chain route of our shipments and associated service levels. Review the invoices to understand if the freight charged amount was as expected. This requires you to work closely with our freight auditor to understand supplemental charges and determine which can be avoided or need to be negotiated. Determine if there are consolidation opportunities without sacrificing customer expectations.
Job Requirements
- Freight Performance & Service Levels
- Review air freight forwarder service levels and transit-time performance.
- Analyze missed performance goals, identify root causes, and develop corrective action plans.
- Confirm that the appropriate service level is assigned based on shipment requirements and customer expectations.
- Cost Validation & Savings
- Review quarterly EMS partner settlement reports and validate that billed costs align with carrier data.
- Partner with the freight auditor, carriers, and EMS partners to identify, validate, and implement logistics cost-saving opportunities.
- Develop scalable processes and tools to strengthen logistics cost control, measure savings, and improve cost efficiency and accuracy.
- Data, Metrics & Insights
- Work with providers to normalize logistics data and generate insights into partner volumes and activity trends.
- Develop global metrics to monitor business health across logistics operations and organizational groups.
- Create clear, actionable cost analyses to support business decisions, optimize COGS, and recommend improvements.
- Process Improvement & Cross-Functional Partnership
- Identify supply chain improvement opportunities, including consolidation options that maintain customer expectations.
- Review logistics accounts regularly; close inactive accounts or update account addresses when activity shifts.
- Build collaborative partnerships with Logistics Commodity teams, EMS Partner Managers, Logistics, Operations NPI, Operations Engineering, IT, Finance, and Global Trade Compliance.
Job Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years combined experience in Supply Chain, Logistics, Operations, or Manufacturing Finance.
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical, problem-solving, negotiation, and organizational skills.
- The ideal candidate will be a proactive contributor and subject matter expert with limited management direction. Self-directed with proven ability to prioritize and multi-task in a dynamic, rapidly changing environment.
- Ability to turn data into insights and recommendations. Utilize broad range of computer/data analytics skills to extract and transform data, build and maintain complex models, and simplify processes.
- Good interpersonal, collaboration, and project management skills with ability to drive and influence change. Track record of working well on teams and leading projects.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills including presenting to senior management.
- Proficiency with Power BI, Power Query (M formula language a plus), Microsoft Excel, and PowerPoint, and utilizing AI tools, such as Copilot.
- Familiarity with logistics related to hardware product supply chain, supply chain terminology, and contract manufacturing practices are highly desirable.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, or Operations related field; MBA is a plus.
