Marketing Technical Evangelist

Spot by NetApp is looking for a Technical Evangelist to help lead our efforts to bring the story of our technology to the technical audiences that have been and will continue to be key to our success and growth including DevOps, Cloud Ops, Infrastructure Engineers and SREs. The combination of NetApp and Spot brings together a leading set of technologies for these users, and this role will have a significant and clear impact in driving momentum and growth for Spot and NetApp in this exciting and rapidly innovating space. This Technical Evangelist will be responsible for shaping our message and content for these audiences as well as for leading our outreach efforts to build awareness, thought leadership and community for Spot and NetApp in the Cloud Native and CloudOps communities.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Identifying and refining our understanding of the needs and challenges of our core technical audiences.
  • Creating compelling messaging and content--demos, videos, blogs, etc.--that explain our solutions and how they address key challenges for technical professionals.
  • Be a resource actively sharing the story of the Spot by NetApp technology and value proposition at conferences, events and webinars to build awareness and thought leadership.
  • Develop relationships and partnerships with key members of the Cloud Native and CloudOps communities.
  • Support Spot’s marketing programs by supplying and supporting that messaging, content and outreach in thought leadership and demand generation activities.
  • Be a go-to resource for up-to-date knowledge of the technology landscape and ecosystem for Cloud Native and CloudOps solutions.

Role in team:

This is an individual contributor role that will work within the Spot marketing team. This person will own planning and developing technical messaging and content as well as doing outreach to build community, thought leadership and engagement for Spot. The person in this role will also work closely with stakeholders including product, sales and customer success, and will be responsible for working with important partners, customers and vendors in support of these efforts.

 

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline such as engineering or computer science, or substantial work experience in a technical role.
  • 5 years of relevant experience in an engineering, sales engineering, or technical marketing role.
  • Strong understanding of key technologies and ecosystems relevant to Cloud Native and CloudOps communities, including cloud PaaS offerings, containers and Kubernetes.
  • Proven experience working with customers and partners.
  • Highly organized with an ability to manage schedules, deliverables and dependencies to deliver timely and quality content and outreach.
  • Strong communication skills, written and oral.
  • Ability to plan and execute projects involving multiple internal and external resources and stakeholders.
  • Technical knowledge and understanding of the Cloud Native and CloudOps technology areas.
  • Problem-solving ability to figure out what works, what doesn’t, and how to iterate and improve.
  • Ability to own and drive projects with multiple stakeholders, resources, and internal and external dependencies.

Education

Typically requires a minimum of 8 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree or 6 years and a Master's degree or A PhD with 3 years experience or Equivalent experience.
