Title: Software Engineer
Morrisville, NC, US
Job Summary
NetApp's Marketplace Core team is building the next generation of marketplace infrastructure that enables customers to discover, purchase, provision, and manage NetApp products across AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, and future marketplace ecosystems.
At the center of this effort is the Marketplace Control Tower (MCT), NetApp's centralized control plane for marketplace operations. MCT automates private offers, subscription management, entitlement workflows, billing visibility, marketplace integrations, and operational governance across hyperscalers. Alongside MCT, the team develops Digital Wallet and other platform services that simplify how customers transact with NetApp through cloud marketplaces.
We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer who enjoys solving complex distributed systems challenges, designing scalable cloud services, and building platforms used by product teams across the company. You will help shape the architecture, APIs, workflows, and operational foundations that enable NetApp's marketplace business to scale.
This is a highly collaborative, high-ownership role where engineers participate in the entire product lifecycle—from design and implementation through deployment, operations, and customer impact.
What You Will Build
- Design and build scalable cloud services that power marketplace transactions, subscriptions, entitlements, billing visibility, and workflow automation.
- Develop core services for the Marketplace Control Tower (MCT), including APIs, orchestration engines, automation workflows, and marketplace connectors.
- Build integrations with AWS Marketplace, Microsoft Azure Marketplace, Google Cloud Marketplace, Salesforce, CPQ systems, and other enterprise platforms.
- Design and implement APIs, SDKs, and platform capabilities that enable internal engineering teams to integrate with marketplace functionality.
- Build workflow-driven solutions for private offer creation, approvals, provisioning, entitlements, metering, billing, and operational governance.
- Contribute to marketplace telemetry, analytics, monitoring, and operational dashboards that improve visibility into platform health and customer outcomes.
- Design data models, service boundaries, event-driven architectures, and integration patterns that can scale across multiple cloud providers.
- Improve platform reliability, observability, operational excellence, and security.
- Own features end-to-end, including requirements, architecture, implementation, testing, deployment, and production support.
- Mentor engineers and contribute to engineering best practices across the organization.
AI-Native Engineering Culture

- We view AI as a force multiplier for engineering productivity and expect candidates to demonstrate how they effectively partner with AI systems while maintaining strong engineering judgment, code quality, security, and operational excellence.
- Successful candidates will have experience working with tools such as Cursor, Claude, OpenAI, and GitHub Copilot and will be excited to help define how AI transforms software engineering within NetApp.
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years of professional software development experience.
- 3+ years building and operating cloud-native distributed systems at scale.
- Experience designing and supporting highly available, fault-tolerant services in production environments.
- Proven experience designing and delivering cloud-native applications that meet real-world scale, performance, and reliability requirements.
- Strong backend development experience in Go. Experience with Python or Node.js is a plus.
- Experience building RESTful APIs, microservices, and event-driven systems.
- Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases and designing scalable data models.
- Experience building CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Azure DevOps, or similar technologies.
- Strong understanding of distributed systems, service-oriented architecture, and cloud-native development principles.
- Experience working with containers and orchestration platforms such as Docker and Kubernetes.
- Knowledge of authentication, authorization, API security, encryption, and modern security practices.
- Experience using AI-assisted software development workflows as a primary development model.
- Demonstrated proficiency with modern AI coding tools such as Cursor, Claude, OpenAI, and GitHub Copilot.
- Experience leveraging LLMs to accelerate software development, including code generation, refactoring, test creation, documentation, debugging, and architectural design.
- Understanding of prompt engineering, context management, token optimization, model selection, and practical techniques for improving AI-assisted development productivity.
- Experience measuring and optimizing AI development workflows, including model selection, context management, token consumption, and prompt effectiveness.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively leverage AI agents and coding assistants to increase engineering productivity while maintaining ownership of design, architecture, testing, and operational excellence.
- Ability to independently deliver large features and systems using AI-accelerated development practices while maintaining high standards for code quality, reliability, security, and maintainability.
- Ability to evaluate tradeoffs, drive architectural discussions, and make sound technical decisions.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with product managers, architects, and engineers.
- Experience mentoring engineers and sharing best practices for AI-assisted development.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with cloud marketplaces, commerce systems, subscription platforms, SaaS billing systems, or procurement platforms.
- Experience building workflow orchestration systems, automation platforms, or control-plane services.
- Familiarity with AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud APIs and service ecosystems.
- Experience integrating with enterprise systems such as Salesforce, CPQ platforms, identity systems, or financial systems.
