Job Summary
As the Quality Engineer, you will be responsible for the development, execution, and ongoing management of NetApp’s packaging strategy. You will leverage your packaging expertise and interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross functional groups to understand and translate their requirements into an end-to-end, sustainable, cost effective packaging strategy. You will leverage your packaging engineering, project management expertise and business skills to drive these requirements and manage an executable program with NetApp’s contract manufacturers and influence their choice of corresponding packaging suppliers. You will be recognized as the subject matter expert for all packaging activities in NetApp related to strategy, design and issue resolution.
Job Responsibilities
· Expertise in designing packaging for sustainability, cost, customer experience, cube optimization, standardization, and quality
· Solid understanding of different types of packaging materials and best usage for different applications
· Demonstrable knowledge of minimizing carbon footprint, recyclability, use of eco-friendly packaging alternatives, returnable packaging, circularity, etc…
· Ability to manage and drive multiple projects forward with multiple teams from start to finish
· Ability to define requirements related to packaging design, testing, and usage and driving programs to ensure the requirements are met
· Experience working with contract manufactures, service & repair suppliers, distribution centers, distributors/value added resellers, sustainable packaging suppliers, and B2B customers
· Experience designing protective packaging for electronics using sustainable packaging
· Experience with ISTA/ASTM package testing protocols
· Strong analytical skills to leverage data in the decision making processes
· Strong project management skills leading global projects and proven ability to drive cross functional collaboration
· Specific knowledge and experience in negotiating contracts
· Experience developing performance metrics
· Experience working closely with and frequently presenting to management
· Excellent verbal/written skills
Job Requirements
· 6+ years of experience initiating and driving projects to completion independently, with minimal guidance
· 6+ years of experience working in Packaging Engineering
· Proven track record of successful supplier negotiations and management
· PMP certification
· Strong customer service background
· Proficient in PowerPoint, Excel, Project
· Experience working Agile PDM
· Willingness to travel (position may require up to 10% travel)
Education
· Required: Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Engineering or related technical discipline
· Ideally: Certifications in Project Management, Supply Chain Management or related
Compensation:
The target salary range for this position is 110,500 - 165,000 USD. The salary offered will be determined by the candidate's location, qualifications, experience, and education and may be outside of this range. Final compensation packages are competitive and in line with industry standards, reflecting a variety of factors, and include a comprehensive benefits package.
