Job Summary

NetApp is looking for a Product Manager to join the product management team, who has successfully managed networking products in larger enterprise companies. He/she has a track record of working in highly effective product management teams and working collaboratively with global R&D. 

Reporting to the Senior Director of Product Management, he/she will work closely with the company Product leadership teams, Sales, TME, Procurement, Marketing and Support teams to execute a compelling product strategy.

The ideal candidate for this role has a background in building and scaling products, strong technical hardware and business acumen, and vision to deliver products that transforms the industry. Most importantly, you a software and hardware background around networking and storage technologies for on-premises and in the cloud.

Job Requirements

  • Define technical requirements for current and next generation networking hardware to ensure products are designed to meet market demand when launched
  • Determine supported configuration requirements, bill of materials (BOMs) and pricing for all networking products
  • Provide technical training and collateral in collaboration with Technical Marketing Engineering (TME) including presentations and/or Technical FAQs for hardware
  • Engage customers and partners including periodic / quarterly meetings, presenting EBCs, and presenting more details networking hardware roadmap
  • Collaborate with R&D to translate market requirements into innovative new technology and with support to deliver solutions that have fast time-to-value and accelerate time-to-revenue
  • Influence cross functional engagements that help deliver elegant solutions to complex situations which increase the customer’s success story
  • Execute product vision, direction, and business plans, including product plans/roadmaps, product evolution and product lifecycle process
  • Translate system functionality into business relevant language
  • Provide insights to the business through analytics and market research in collaboration with Product and Technical Marketing and the Procurement teams
  • Work on the technical issues reported by customers on the new/deployed product
  • Work with internal team on issue reproduction, fixing and closing the issue
  • Inspirational leader; can motivate, inspire, and motivate teams around a product vision.
  • Strong analytical and logical skills
  • Ability to build and/or use tools for BOM, Sizing, Pricing, etc purposes

Education

  • BA/BS required, in Computer Science or related technical degree preferred
  • 10+ years in product management.
  • Experience in hardware product management
  • Experience in server and networking technology related experience for data centers, on-premises and for cloud specifically understanding the layer 2 and layer 3 networking protocols (including – spanning tree, LACP, MLAG, VLAN, VRRP, TCP/IP, and BGPDeep) understanding of storage protocols such as FCP, iSCSI, NVMe, NVMeOF and experience with storage area network design
  • Strong knowledge with computer architectures
  • P&L management experience
  • Hands on experience on provisioning of networking devices – switches and routers is required
  • Deep knowledge around CPUs, GPUs and DPUs and PCIe, NVMe and SSDs
  • Ability to identify, analyze, and solve ambiguous problems with extreme attention to detail
  • Contract negotiation experience especially around reseller and OEM contract negotiations
  • Proficient in MS Office

Travel requirements:

15% to 25% of travel will be required

Colorado Residents Only: If the Company determines this role will be performed in Colorado, the starting salary for this position is  (.9 compa*). This role could be eligible for comprehensive benefits including: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, 401(K), Paid Time off (PTO), Company bonus, Employee stock purchase plan, and restricted stocks (RSU’s) *. Final compensation will be dependent on various factors such as location, qualifications, certifications, relevant work experience and other factors, consistent with applicable law.
