Job Summary

As PS Consultant you will develop and deliver detailed technology solutions through consulting project activities.

Responsibilities include client identification through final invoicing for engagements requiring varied interpersonal and technical skills.
Technical responsibilities include translating the client’s business requirements into specific systems, applications or process designs for large complex technology solutions and integrating architecture; system architecture definition, hardware/software specification and/or design, implementation, testing, client training, and solution deployment. Performance is typically evaluated based on utilization, (i.e., billable hours). Project management activities include interaction with company and client managers and cost/schedule monitoring.

You may have some financial responsibilities including project cost estimating, proposal generation, and invoicing. May participate in sales and proposal presentations in addition to completing ongoing team account activities. Identifies additional product/services opportunities in customer organization.
Performance is typically measured by the capture of the consulting engagement and/or delivery of agreed solutions within budgeted hours.

Job Requirements

  • Senior level position for industry experts with excellent technology and consulting skills possessing extensive professional field experience
  • Understand and translate customer business requirements into technical solutions
  • Ability to converse and influence on multiple levels within customer organisation – comfortably engage with technical staff on the detailed hands on level and with managerial / sales level stakeholders 
  • Lead and deploy highly complex post-sales hardware and software architectures, installations, and integrations
  • Own the product deployment with the customer, responsible for engaging with datacentre, network, security and storage teams on the customer side and articulate requirements to these teams
  • Understand signoff and testing procedures for ensuring production readiness
  • Onsite and remote subject matter expert with NetApp, IT infrastructure, applications, security, networking and Cloud services, in a context of deploying a software product with applicable infrastructure. 

 

The skills/capabilities in the following technologies/areas of expertise which are essential (hands on experience is required) to this role: 

  • Experience integrating complex software product and applicable multiple infrastructure elements into a customer environment
  • VMware/vCenter; Linux flavours
  • NetApp ONTAP (AFF + FAS); data centre storage environments
  • Network integration between product required switching and customer data switches (Cisco 9K’s, layer 2 VLANs, trunking, 10 / 25 / 40 / 100 GbE, SFP’s, LC fibres)
  • Firewalls – integration of firewalls into customer network, outbound access to internet, IPSEC tunnels supporting routed management subnets, exposing product infrastructure management interfaces via external interfaces on FWs.
  • Security – documentation and explanation of our requirements for IP access, management access, service accounts and permissions. Lead discussions with customer security teams to explain and justify access
  • Fluency in English.

 

The skills/capabilities in the following technologies/areas of expertise which are desirable (general understanding is required) to this role:

  • Kubernetes / Docker / Helm charts / Ingress Routing & TLS certificates
  • Docker image repositories, tagging, release management.
  • Ansible, Ansible Roles, RedHat Tower / Apache AWX
  • High level familiarity with MongoDB & Rabbit MQ
  • System monitoring and alerting with tools such as Prometheus and Prometheus AlertManager, SNMP, OpsRamp & ElasticSearch (EFK Stack)
  • Credential management tools such as Hashicorp Vault
  • Python scripts, running and managing if not writing.
  • YAML configuration
  • NetApp technologies – StorageGRID and generic S3, E-Series, NetApp HCI, SolidFire, Trident 
  • Persistent Volume Claims are under Kubernetes, role they perform and integration with NetApp Trident 
  • Data-centre deployments – racks, cooling, power, fixed network cabling
  • Palo Alto firewalls
  • OpsRamp – explain role of the OpsRamp tool in customer environments. Discuss use for remote management/VPN, outbound network requirements, logging, IP access to storage environment, etc

 

Education

Bachelor's Degree, plus at least 4-8 years experience in a similar role
