Job Summary

As a Network Systems Administrator you will work as part of a highly technical team of professionals who support the day-to-day management and operations of NetApp's networks. You will utilize your strong technical background and related experience to positively contribute to the department's goals and vision for advancing NetApp's network systems infrastructure. Essential Functions: 
The Network Systems Administrator 3 works as part of the Network Administration team providing 24x7 operational support for network servers in the Engineering Datacenters including general administration and management. Your specific areas of responsibilities include:

- Perform routine monitoring and maintenance tasks under the direct supervision of a more experienced Network Systems Administrators.
- Update process documentation and team websites as required.
- Gather metrics for detailed analysis by team members.
- Manage Network Systems team ticket pool and begin basic troubleshooting customer issues.
- Participate in outage on-call escalations.
- Communicate with internal customers, peers, and managers regarding network systems administration issues. 
- Manage equipment tracking (e.g. terminals, cable, etc.)
- Perform off-hour change controls. 
- Communicate with internal customers, peers, and managers regarding network systems administration issues.
- Work with experienced Systems Administrators on maintenance of environment.
- Provide instructions and guidance on best practices to junior members of the team.
- Use scripting languages to automate tasks and gather data.
- Communicate with internal customers, peers, and managers regarding network administration issues, and recommend solutions.

Job Requirements

Responsibility and Interaction:

- The types of tasks this individual is responsible are a mix of structured and unstructured tasks. This individual will apply attained experiences and knowledge in solving routine to moderately complex problems. 

- This individual interacts primarily with Staff to Director level employees within the function, and the technical team on assigned projects. There may be communication with employees in other functions as required.
- General direction is provided on routine work, and detailed direction is provided on new projects and assignments; as well as on-going review of activities and priorities.
- The ideal candidate will be an important contributor or lead on team projects.


Required Skills:
- Networking (Routing, Firewalls, Protocols, Monitoring, Load Balancing, High Availability)
- Support of the network management and troubleshooting experience of SNMP, polling, MIBs, BGP, OSPF, VLANs experience using a network management platform for a large multiple site layer 2/3 environments.
- Working knowledge and support of Cisco ACI environments
- Proficient with analyzing data traces from protocol analyzers and traffic generators.
- Strong knowledge and hands-on experience with FC, FCoE, HBA firmware, multi-path software, FC Zoning, and SAN fabric management.
- Strong knowledge of NAS (NFS, CIFS, iSCSI) deployment and administration.
- Strong experience supporting and manging a SAN (Storage Area Network) infrastructure.

Preferred Skills:
- Datacenter CCNA, Datacenter CCNP preferred
- Support and troubleshooting of Solarwinds products
- Knowledge of Python scripting language


- A minimum of 5 years of experience is required; 6 to 8 years of experience is preferred. 
- A Bachelor of Sciences Degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Sciences, or related technical field is required; or equivalent experience.
- Demonstrated ability to have completed multiple, moderately complex technical tasks.
