Job Summary

Database Administrator: Support databases, including base definition, structure, documentation, long-range requirements, operational guidelines and protection. Ensures accuracy and completeness of data in master files and various support tools, such as base dictionaries. Establishes and maintains security and integrity controls. Formulates and monitors policies, procedures and standards relating to database management. Proposes and implements enhancements that will improve the performance and reliability of the system.

Job Requirements

- Good oral and written communication skills; including documentation.- Strong knowledge of:- Database structure and relational theory- Standard SQL commands- Database administration tools, procedures and best practices- Knowledge of scripting methods (e.g. PERL, shell, VB, SQL, etc.)General Information Technology industry knowledge as it applies to the area of databases. - Ability to work collaboratively within a team of other Database Administrators, IT support engineers and others  to support incident response/recovery; ability to work independently as well.- Ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently.- Good interpersonal skills.- Ability to follow and adhere to policies, procedures and standards relating to database management and ITIL support processes. - Must be willing to work a 24X7 on call schedule. Responsibility and Interaction:Responsibility: - The types of tasks this individual is responsible are a mix of structured and unstructured tasks. This individual will apply attained experiences and knowledge in solving routine to moderately complex problems. Interaction: - This individual interacts primarily with Staff to Director level employees within the function.

Education

Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 2 years of related experience; or an advanced degree without experience; or equivalent work experience.
