Job Summary

NetApp University is looking for an ideal candidate as a Learning and Development Manager for the Converged Infrastructure (CI) and Cloud Data Services (CDS) groups within NetApp.  The Learning and Development manager will be responsible for developing a comprehensive learning enablement plan for the products covered by these two business units including NetApp HCI, Flexpod, Cloud Volumes, and ONTAP Select.  In order to create a curriculum proposal the Learning and Development manager will need to be able to understand a product payload and how it could impact Sales messaging and positioning, technical hands on courses enabling the installation and administration, and technical courses enabling Support engineers to troubleshoot customer scenarios.  The Learning and Development Manager must be able to have design and implementation technical discussions with the Go To Market lab team on the area of Storage Area networking, hypervisors such as VMWare vSphere and Microsoft HyperV, and cloud providers such as AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud.   This engagement will ensure scalability and validation of learning solutions through pilots and user acceptance testing of self-paced solutions.  The Learning and Development manager must be located at a NetApp University development center due to interactions with developers, Subject Matter experts, and the Go To Market lab team.

Job Requirements

Evaluate product roadmap deliverables from the Converged Infrastructure and Cloud Data Services product teams and conduct an impact analysis on existing learning objects and\or create a new proposal for a curriculum plan encompassing the learning needs of all audiences from Sales through Support.

Coordinating with Go To Market labs or external contract developers on lab design and architecture for virtual and hardware labs.  This coordination will include the specification of storage (compute and storage nodes) and networking components (network and storage switches) for lab kits, creation of Lab Setup Guides, negotiation of lab network environment to support scalability, and pilot testing during development.

Investigate and enable new modalities, tools, or processes to improve the learners experience for Converged Infrastructure and Cloud Data Service training. 

Responsible for developing virtualized hardware enablement courses addressing a virtualized hardware need including but not limited to virtual reality, augmented reality, or hardware simulations.

Manage the Converged Infrastructure and Cloud Data Service learning development needs by assigning appropriate Sales or Technical developers, providing input on development task in the NetApp project management systems, addressing development issues, communicating status to the overall project teams, and coordinating production service interactions through release.

Lead the Converged Infrastructure and Cloud Data Services content development team by conducting team meetings, 1:1s, and staff development plans.





BS\BA in Computer Science or related area. 

BS\BA in Instructional Design highly preferred.


5 to 10 years of experience in a networking or storage industry developing content for Sales Representatives, Sales Engineers, Professional Service Installation Engineers, and Technical Support Escalation Engineers.

5 to 10 years of experience designing and implementing hands on lab environments in storage and networking using virtualized and hardware environments. 

5 to 10 years of experience using industry learning development tools for e-learning including but not limited to Articulate Storyline, Camtasia, Brainshark, or Panopto.

3 to 5 years managing and leading a team of highly technical  content developers experienced in creating content in the storage or networking field.
