Job Summary

As an Open Ecosystem engineer at NetApp you will be developing and automating testing software to integrate NetApp's product portfolio into Kubernetes and Docker.  The Open Ecosystem engineering team is a fast paced and agile software engineering team leading the charge of NetApp in the container ecosystem.  We are developing innovative and unique solutions to assist our customers in solving the challenge of persistant storage consumption for container technology.  We work closely with upstream communities to provide code and leadership in defining the persistant storage strategy in these areas.

This position is focused on QA activities related to automated testing of NetApp's integrations with Docker and Kubernetes.  Primary activities will include working alongside of development engineers to develop and automate testing of features and implementations to ensure the quality of the product delivered to the end customer.  

Job Requirements
  • Strong oral and written communication skills are essential.
  • Work collaboratively within a team environment of other engineers to meet aggressive goals and high-quality standards.
  • Knowledge of programming/scripting principles.
  • Proven aptitude for learning new technologies.
  • Familiarity with basic concepts of computer architecture, data structures and standard quality assurance practices.
  • Creative and analytical approach to problem solving
  • Proficient in technology and quality assurance

Specific requirements for this position include:

  • Agile software development practices
  • Experience/knowledge of CI test automation
  • Experience with Golang (Go) programming language
  • Experience with Python programming language
  • Kubernetes/Docker experience
  • Team player

Responsibility and Interaction:


  • Responsible for a mix of structured and unstructured tasks.
  • Apply attained experiences and knowledge in solving routine to moderately complex problems.


  • Interact primarily with direct manager and the technical team on assigned projects. There may be communication with employees in other functions within the Business Unit as required.
  • General direction is provided on routine work and detailed direction is provided on new projects and assignments. There will be on-going reviews of activities and priorities.
  • Participate as an important contributor to team projects.

Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 3 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD without experience; or equivalent work experience.
