Job Summary

The Information Technology Project Management Office (IT PMO) is responsible for providing the project leadership, strategic consulting, and process predictability required to obtain the maximum business value from NetApp’s portfolio of IT projects and programs. We manage the planning and execution of NetApp’s highest priority programs and projects, organize and curate the master portfolio of work, and cultivate a high-performing culture through building trust and ownership.

A fresh perspective and a willingness to dig into problem areas is both encouraged and expected. The IT PMO organization is staffed with individuals with a huge array of leadership experience both inside and outside of the technology sector, all of which are glued together by a shared desire to take part in solving difficult problems.

Program Managers are the glue that binds multiple projects to ensure that they are not only benefitting each other but are also staying true to the overall business objectives. Program Managers are responsible for keeping long-term organizational goals in-sight, building and leveraging relationships in order to maintain stakeholder alignment, and for fostering critical conversations about cost/benefit, timeline, and scope.

NetApp Program Managers may also periodically play a Project Manager role depending on business-needs.

Responsibilities:

• Build and organize one or more programs in accordance with the objectives set by NetApp executive sponsors.

• Develop and manage long term goals.

• Participate in budgetary reviews. Budgets are managed by individual Project Managers.

• Support Project Managers and Operating Committee members to build relationships and take advantage of the team’s diverse skills/talents.

• Provide an interface between the teams executing the work, and the business partners impacted by the coming changes.

• Support Organizational Change Management planning.

• Work with project managers to implement and enforce project change control policies/procedures.

• Meet with stakeholders on a regular cadence.

• Build, maintain, and communicate regular program-level status reports.

• Actively identify, document, communicate, and mitigate risks.

• Collect data to identify root cause of problems.

• Measure performance against expectations.

• Provide mentorship, training and support for junior Project/Program Managers.

Job Requirements

  • • Extensive knowledge of project management best practices

    • Experience overseeing projects/programs with significant organizational change management components

    • Strong oral and written communication skills and a willingness to speak up.

    • Ability to work collaboratively in a matrixed environment in order to meet aggressive goals.

    • Strong analytical skills and ability to work both independently and on cross functional teams.

    • Ability to build strong working relationships across all levels of the organization, including remote areas.

    • Ability to function well in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with competing priorities.

    • Strong experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint.

    • Creative approach to problem solving.

    • This individual must work effectively with individual contributor to executive-level stakeholders.

    • Limited supervision is provided. This individual should be self-starting, proactive, and have the ability to operate, drive results, and set priorities independently.

    • Candidates with demonstrated experience managing large cross-functional programs will be given preference.

Education

• Bachelor’s degree or master’s degree in business or related field is preferred.
