Job Summary

As a Software Engineer in Test in the Core Storage Engineering group, you will you will work as part of a highly skilled team responsible for the Research and Development of NetApp storage products. The team is focused on enabling high-capacity, high-performance NVMe and SAS based storage I/O modules and disk shelves.  You will participate in all aspects of product lifecycles including design, development, testing and debugging of new storage products as well as enhancements to existing NetApp storage products.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with Scrum team to identify, develop and complete test cases for user stories
  • Follow standard engineering best practices through full development life cycles including architecture, design, code, review, validation, testing, and support
  • Participate in technical discussions with direct team members and with cross-functional team
  • Work individually and as a collaborative member of the team
  • Work on additional tasks and responsibilities that will contribute towards team, department and company goals


Job Requirements

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Ability to perform software Unit Testing, System Testing and White Box Testing
  • Excellent scripting skills (PERL, Python, Linux Scripting, etc.)
  • Experience in Software Verification or Software Quality Assurance
  • A background in embedded software development and software testing
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to engage in critical and/or high visibility customer support cases
  • Strong team mentality with desire and ability to work well both intra-team and cross-functionally with other teams (verification, customer support, program management, other software teams, etc.)
  • Experience with C programming


Nice to Have:

  • Experience with storage protocols such as SAS, NVMe, SCSI and SATA
  • Experience working with SAS Expanders or I/O Controllers
  • Experience with PCIe gen3
  • Experience with Ethernet and TCP/IP
  • Experience with protocol and logic analyzers
  • Experience with Thread-X and/or Free BSD
  • Experience and familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies


Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 3 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD without experience; or equivalent work experience.
