Job Summary

The OSSG (ONTAP Software & Storage group) Product Team is responsible for building, managing and launching NetApp’s core storage and data management products. The team builds the foundational product capabilities behind NetApp’s flagship product ONTAP and is at the forefront of driving a transformational journey at NetApp by accelerating innovation across NetApp’s hybrid cloud portfolio (Public, Private & On Prem).

Outbound Product Management is a core focus area for the OSSG Product Team and involves the development and alignment of Product, GTM strategies, Customer Value Enablement and Lifecycle Management practices across the OSSG product portfolio. The goal of the Outbound Product Management team is to enable ongoing customer success, increase product adoption and drive customer lifetime value growth across all market segments.

This role reports to the Senior Director of Outbound Product Management and will work closely with Technical Marketing, Inbound Product Management, Engineering, Sales, Product Marketing, and other key partners. In this role, you will develop GTM strategies and execution plans, and enable Product- Field cohesion by influencing both Product Development efforts and Field initiatives. The successful candidate has a passion for understanding how customers use ONTAP, identifying key product value drivers, developing winning GTM strategies and driving customer technical and business outcomes.

Job Requirements


  • Identify and update list of key customer use cases across target market segments
  • Drive alignment of identified use Cases to sales plays and solutions
  • Own creation of Voice of Customer (VOC) summaries and work closely with Inbound PM to develop MRDs and PRDs
  • Establish ONTAP Positioning/Messaging highlighting software led product value themes
  • Carry out Competitive and Win-Loss Analyses and develop product related Field Themes (what’s working well/what’s not) 
  • Own driving adoption of key product features/capabilities across installed base
  • Establish systematic feedback loops to drive internal communications with Technical (Inbound) Product Management and Engineering on use cases, product/feature adoption and other field themes to influence product roadmap and priorities  
  • Track, manage and drive resolution of systematic product and use case specific field technical issues
  • Lead roadmap and product development discussions during EBCs/customer QBRs


  • Ability and aptitude to develop deep understanding of NetApp’s product portfolio, market segments, value propositions, routes to market, business models and unit economics 
  • Excellent communication, organization, leadership, and execution skills
  • Ability to consolidate information from a variety of resources, including (but not limited to) usage data, customer feedback, and market analysis, to inform product strategy and roadmaps
  • Display flexibility and the ability to adjust priorities quickly based on new information
  • Builds strong connections and work cohesively with internal and external stakeholders 


  • 10+ years of prior experience of working in Enterprise Software or the IT infrastructure space in the following roles: product management, GTM strategy or product/solutions marketing. Management Consulting experience with particular focus on GTM aspects and improving customer experience a plus
  • 5+ years of prior experience of leading and scaling a high performing team
  • Significant prior experience in roles which required Executive visibility and interaction and the need to influence cross-functional stakeholders 
  • Proven track record of establishing business growth objectives, strategies and delivering key results.
  • Strong analytical orientation, proven ability to build data models and marshal quantitative analysis to drive strategic decisions
  • Self-motivated, process driven, biased toward action, capable of defining objectives and delivering workstreams from start to finish with limited oversight
