Job Summary

NetApp is looking for a Product Manager Platforms with deep technical background to join the product management team, who has successfully managed networking and storage products in larger enterprise companies. He/she has a track record of working in highly effective product management teams and working collaboratively with global R&D.

Reporting to the Senior Director of Product Management, he/she will work closely with the company Product leadership teams, Sales, TME, Procurement, Marketing and Support teams to execute a compelling product strategy.

The ideal candidate for this role has a background in building and scaling products, strong technical hardware and business acumen, and vision to deliver products that transform the industry. Most importantly, you have a software and hardware background around networking and storage technologies for on-premises and in the cloud.

Having a passion for presenting to customers and partners will be fundamental in this role based on the candidate’s ability to translate deep technical features and functions into customer and partner value and ROI/TCO for the end customers.

 

Job Requirements

  • Define technical requirements (MRD/PRD) for next generation hardware or related ONTAP features to ensure products are designed to meet market demand when launched
  • Provide a 360o vision of how customers use our systems and challenges they may face to internal stakeholders from a technical perspective
  • Determine supported configuration requirements and drive support changes if needed so storage systems are meeting customer demands
  • Continually focused on enhancing product simplicity and improving customer experience
  • Provide technical training and collateral including SE presentations and/or Technical FAQs for hardware and related ONTAP features
  • Engage customers and partners including periodic / quarterly meetings, presenting EBCs, and presenting more details hardware roadmap
  • Collaborate with R&D to translate market requirements into innovative new technology and with support to deliver solutions that have fast time-to-value and accelerate time-to-revenue
  • Influence cross functional engagements that help deliver elegant solutions to complex situations which increase the customer’s success story
  • Execute product vision, direction, and business plans, including product plans/roadmaps, product evolution and product lifecycle process

Education

  • BA/BS required, in Computer Science or related technical degree preferred
  • 10+ years in technology industry.
  • Experience in hardware product management
  • Extremely proficient in presenting to end customers and partners translating technical features into customer and partner value and ROI/TCO for the end customers
  • Experience in server, storage and networking technology related experience for data centers, on-premises and for cloud specifically understanding the layer 2 and layer 3 networking protocols (including – spanning tree, LACP, MLAG, VLAN, VRRP, TCP/IP, and BGPDeep) understanding of storage protocols such as FCP, iSCSI, NVMe, NVMeOF, JBODs, JBOFs, etc. and experience with storage area network design

Preferred requirements:

  • Various industry certifications
  • Hands on experience on provisioning of networking and storage devices
  • Deep knowledge around CPUs, GPUs and DPUs and PCIe, NVMe and SSDs
  • Ability to identify, analyze, and solve ambiguous problems with extreme attention to detail
  • Proficient in MS Office

Travel requirements:

15% to 25% of travel will be required
