Job Summary

NetApp is looking for a Technical Hardware and Sustainability Product Manager to join the product management team, who has successfully managed and influenced hardware designs in larger enterprise companies. He/she has a track record of working in highly effective product management teams and working collaboratively with global R&D.

This is an individual role reporting to the Senior Director of Product Management, he/she will work closely with the company Product leadership teams, Engineering, Procurement, Sustainability and Support teams to define a compelling product strategy working on the fastest growing segment within NetApp’s portfolio!
For the second part of this role, we’re seeking a strategic and passionate Sustainability Product Manager to lead our environmental, social, and governance (ESG) initiatives. Your responsibilities will involve developing and implementing sustainability strategies, reducing environmental impact, and ensuring compliance with industry regulations and sustainability goals.
NetApp’s near-term green-house gas (GHG) emissions reduction targets have been validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).

Responsibilities
•    Gather, validate, and evaluate product/market requirements through market and customer research, competitive and product research involving customer visits, advisory councils, industry events, analyst relationships, etc
•    Collaborate with R&D to translate sustainability market requirements into innovative new technology and with support to deliver solutions that have fast time-to-value and accelerate time-to-revenue
•    Help to define the product vision, direction, and business plans, including product plans/roadmaps, product evolution and product lifecycle process
•    Provide insights into the business through analytics and market research in collaboration with Product and Procurement teams
•    Translate system functionality and sustainability requirements into a business relevant language
•    Gain experience in global sustainability, with knowledge of the strategies and priorities within global regions and provide insight into corporate leaders.
•    Help develop and execute sustainability programs to reduce carbon footprint, waste, and resource consumption.
•    Understand how hardware components can influence the resulting power consumption for a storage system to develop better reporting of sustainability metrics.
•    Monitor, measure, and report sustainability metrics, ensuring alignment with industry best practices and regulatory standards (e.g., ESG reporting, GRI, CDP, UN SDGs).
•    Collaborate with internal teams (e.g., supply chain, operations, Legal, HR, marketing) to integrate sustainable practices into business processes.
•    Assess and mitigate environmental across the organization’s operations and supply chain.
•    Engage and educate employees, suppliers, and stakeholders on sustainability policies and best practices.
•    Stay up to date with sustainability trends, innovations, and legal requirements to drive continuous improvement.
•    Develop partnerships with external organizations, NGOs, and government bodies to enhance sustainability initiatives.

Job Requirements

Technical & Industry Skills:
Minimum requirements:

•    3+ years in product management. 
•    Experience in hardware product management
•    Experience in server, networking and storage technology related experience for data centers, on-premises and understanding of storage technologies such as FCP, iSCSI, NVMe, SMB, NFSv3/NFSv4, S3, SATA, SAS, RAID and erasure coding topology
•    Knowledge with backup and disaster recovery architectures for SAN and NAS environments
•    Willingness to roll up your sleeves and do whatever is necessary
•    Work on the technical issues reported by customers on the new/deployed product
•    Strong analytical and logical skills
•    Ability to build and/or use tools for BOM, Sizing, Pricing, etc purposes
•    Problem-solving and organizational skills
•    Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
•    Proven ability to collaborate cross-functionally. 
•    Experience working with teams across geographies and business units.
•    Excellent listening, oral, and written communication/presentation skills with strong ability to influence people at all levels and in various functions.
•    Knowledge of sustainability frameworks, ESG reporting, carbon accounting, and life cycle assessments (LCA) including product carbon footprint (PCF) reporting.
•    Basic experience with sustainable supply chains, circular economy principles, and renewable energy strategies.
•    Basic Proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools to track sustainability performance.


Preferred Qualifications
Experience:
•    Experience with Tableau, SalesForce, Jira
•    Hands-on experience on provisioning of storage devices for out of box experience
•    Deep knowledge around CPUs, GPUs and DPUs and PCIe, NVMe and SSDs
•    Ability to identify, analyze, and solve ambiguous problems with extreme attention to detail
•    BA/BS required, in Computer Science or related technical degree
•    MBA
•    Familiarity with environmental regulations and sustainability certifications (e.g., ISO 14001, B Corp, LEED, GRI, Energy Star, ErP / EU Lot 9).
•    Deep knowledge of sustainability frameworks, ESG reporting, carbon accounting, and life cycle assessments (LCA) including product carbon footprint (PCF) reporting.
•    3+ years of experience in sustainability management, corporate social responsibility (CSR), or environmental compliance.


Travel requirements:
15% to 25% of travel will be required
