Job Summary

Are you interested in designing and selling innovative and cutting-edge solutions for the software development departments of our leading global enterprises using state of the art Dev/Ops technologies? If so NetApp’s EMEA CSA Team could be the place for you.

We are currently seeking an experienced Solutions Architect to be the key subject matter expert for all the new technologies around the Object Storage space (including management of these kinds of infrastructures) within a team of other Solutions Architects covering the whole NetApp platform and solution portfolio. The successful candidate will have a strong background in software development, object storage, S3 and knowledge of Big Data technologies.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

The Solutions Architect participates in sales projects and is responsible for all technical due-diligence during the sales cycle for these projects. Fundamental ownership of all technical aspects resides here. As a subject matter expert the Solution Architect drives his owned technical focus areas by supporting Go-to-Market and product introduction activities, driving global enablement of the technical account team members (including NetApp channel partners) and negotiating product and solution requirements with the appropriate Program Management teams.
 

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Translate and articulate NetApp’s technical benefits into customer specific solutions
  • Manage and support all aspects of technical product evaluations at customer sites
  • Work collaboratively with other members of the sales team and serve as key technical advisor
  • Lead and/or make significant contributions in response to RFPs, RFQs, and RFIs
  • Develop and deliver technical product demonstrations
  • Prepare and deliver technical product, solution, and architecture presentations
  • Prepare and deliver training (including collaterals and hand-on labs)
  • Create customer case studies and provide input to technical white papers
  • Convey customer requirements back to the Product Management team
  • Represent NetApp at conferences, tradeshows, and other industry events
Job Requirements

Qualified candidates must have strong technical communication skills (both verbal and written) a competitive, positive attitude, creativity, resourcefulness, team spirit, and unbridled determination. Additionally, you will have strong technical skills coupled with a deep knowledge of and appetite for the rapidly changing technologies building software defined infrastructures for developing cutting-edge applications for the private cloud.
 

More specific requirements include:

  • In-depth technical knowledge of object storage, S3 and the API
  • Programming skills (scripting languages like Perl, Python or Java preferred)
  • Previous work experience with direct customer engagements (pre-sales or post-sales)
  • In-depth knowledge of Big Data technology - Knowledge of Hadoop and the various distributions, Hortonworks, Cloudera, Map
  • A solid storage background, NAS, SAN, and distributed filesystems such as GPFS, HDFS, Lustre would be desirable
  • Proven successful management of on-site customer Proof-of-Concepts and workshops
  • Ability to effectively communicate NetApp's technical value proposition, either in-person and via WebEx
  • Demonstrated success establishing product feedback loops into product management and engineering
  • Willingness to travel within the EMEA region
Education
Typically requires a minimum of 12 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 8 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 5 years experience; or equivalent experience.
