Job Summary

The senior architect (pre-sales) position is responsible for developing and executing the technical portions of Private/Hybrid/Multi/Public-Cloud engagements and uncovering new transformative data opportunities. You will work in cross-functional teams including Sales, Product Marketing, Services and Engineering to create a strategy that provides the best solutions to customers.  You will become intimately acquainted with the customer's business requirements, technical needs, systems, environment, and service history, enabling you to present targeted business solutions. 

Essential Functions

The architect will work with NetApp customers and the assigned Account/Sales Team by providing expertise in the following areas: 
•    Work closely with sales as a senior consultant to understand prospect’s business and technical needs related to a specific market or specific product. 
•    Lead the discovery process for qualifying and creating a solution that solves customers objectives 
•    Become the solution expert in the use cases and products supported by NetApp’s Cloud offerings 
•    Ability to effectively communicate NetApp's technical value proposition, either in-person or remote 
•    Lead and assist other account teams in developing NetApp Cloud solution opportunities 
•    Teamwork and Collaboration 
•    Run/lead proof-of-concepts (POCs) to demonstrate the value of our solutions 
•    Work with multiple extended teams within NetApp to deliver successful outcomes for the business. 
•    Keep apprised of all new product features and fixes. 
•    Provide technical consultation/education to the Sales team and keep them apprised on new product information. 
 

Job Requirements

Sales: 
•    Qualifying customer needs, and the fit of the solutions NetApp offers in hybrid cloud 
•    Adept with ROI/TCO presentations at CIO level 
•    Previous work experience with a direct sales model including large account selling methodologies. 
•    Designing solutions that may include one or more of software, cloud subscriptions and professional services; running technical workshops to demonstrate those solutions 
•    Lead and/or make significant contributions in response to RFPs, RFQs, and RFIs. 
•    Spearhead multiple extended teams within NetApp to deliver successful outcomes 

Evangelism: 
•    Presenting at customer and partner executive briefings, NetApp and partner sales meetings, etc. 
•    Participating in / host industry meet-ups and user groups 
•    Develop community of cloud architect across our customer base 
•    Replicate success, Publishing significant wins internally and / or externally 

 Technical : 
•    Strong knowledge of private cloud infrastructure solutions 
•    Experience with automating private cloud environments 
•    Experience in designing infrastructure solutions for database applications (SQL, Oracle, SAP) 
•    Knowledge of big data / analytics applications is preferred 
•    Replicate success, Publishing significant wins internally and / or externally 

Improvement / learning time: 
•    Staying abreast of the latest developments in private/public cloud services 
•    Acquiring / maintaining technical expertise 
•    Developing or enhancing processes and techniques employed by our sales and technical teams 
 

Education
Typically requires a minimum of 12 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 8 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 5 years experience; or equivalent experience.
