Title: Senior Director, Product Management - AI Data Engine
US
About the Team
The NetApp AI Data Engine team is at the forefront of enterprise AI — delivering an end-to-end, storage-integrated AI data service that simplifies and secures AI data pipelines from data preparation to GenAI app deployment. We build capabilities across the full AI lifecycle: intelligent data discovery and curation, policy-driven governance, real-time vectorization, and retrieval endpoints that power GenAI, RAG, and agentic AI workflows. We operate across on-premises and cloud environments, and we partner deeply with the industry's leading AI ecosystem.
This is one of NetApp's highest-priority growth areas, and our team moves with the urgency and conviction of a startup backed by the scale and credibility of a global enterprise.
The Opportunity
We are looking for a Senior Director of Product Management to join the NetApp AI Data Engine team. This is a senior product leadership role that will define the vision and execution strategy for key AI capabilities — spanning AI infrastructure for model training, GenAI pipelines, agentic AI, and intelligent data governance.
You will report to the Vice President of AI Data Engine and work closely with engineering, design, marketing, sales, and ecosystem partners to bring world-class AI data products to market. You will lead a team of product managers and own significant portions of the AI Data Engine roadmap.
What You'll Do
- Define and own the product vision, strategy, and multi-year roadmap for key AI Data Engine capabilities, including GenAI/RAG pipelines, agentic AI data flows, and AI infrastructure for model training and inference.
- Lead, mentor, and grow a team of product managers, instilling a culture of customer obsession, data-driven decision-making, and rigorous execution.
- Work directly with customers, field teams, and partners to deeply understand enterprise AI pain points and translate them into differentiated product solutions.
- Partner with engineering leadership to define technical requirements, set priorities, and guide the product development lifecycle from concept to launch.
- Establish and communicate a compelling product narrative to internal stakeholders, analysts, and the market — including executive audiences.
- Drive go-to-market alignment with product marketing, sales, and alliances to accelerate adoption and revenue growth.
- Evaluate and synthesize competitive landscape, market trends, and customer research to continuously refine strategy and positioning.
- Collaborate across NetApp business units to ensure AI Data Engine capabilities are well-integrated with ONTAP, cloud storage, and broader data services.
- Lead product launches, beta programs, and strategic customer advisory engagements.
Qualifications
- 15+ years of product management experience, with at least 5 years in a senior or director-level role at a B2B enterprise software or cloud company.
- Deep domain knowledge in AI/ML, data infrastructure, or cloud-native platforms — ideally with hands-on experience building products at the intersection of AI and data.
- Proven track record of leading product teams, managing roadmaps, and shipping enterprise-scale products from concept through GA and post-launch growth.
- Experience working with GenAI, RAG architectures, agentic AI workflows, or data pipelines is strongly preferred.
- Strong technical depth — comfortable engaging with engineering teams on architecture decisions, APIs, and system design trade-offs.
- Exceptional communication and executive presence; ability to influence without authority across a complex, global organization.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, or a related technical field required; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
