Job Summary
Development of an On-Premises Linux YUM Repository environment with global redundancy and a dashboard for management and monitoring.
Project Objectives:
- Evaluate Pulp 3: Assess the suitability of Pulp 3 as a replacement for Repositorio, including feature comparison, performance benchmarking, and compatibility testing.
- Develop Custom Management and Monitoring Tools: Create a web-based dashboard for monitoring repository synchronization, managing repositories, and providing real-time alerts and metrics.
- Design Global Redundancy: Architect a globally distributed repository system to ensure high availability and redundancy, leveraging modern technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
- Implement and Test: Deploy the new solution in a test environment, conduct thorough testing, and iteratively refine the setup based on feedback and performance data.
- Documentation and Training: Provide comprehensive documentation and training materials to facilitate smooth transition and adoption by the operations team.
Job Requirements
- Python: Pulp 3 is primarily written in Python, and the intern will need to be proficient in Python to work with and extend Pulp 3.
- Django: Understanding of Django, as Pulp 3 uses this framework for its web application.
- PostgreSQL: Experience with PostgreSQL for database management, as Pulp 3 relies on this database system.
- Redis: Knowledge of Redis for caching and task queuing, which is integral to Pulp 3's performance.
- REST API: Ability to work with RESTful APIs for programmatic interaction with Pulp 3.
- Docker: Familiarity with Docker for containerizing applications, which will simplify deployment and management.
- Kubernetes (Optional): Understanding of Kubernetes for advanced deployments, ensuring scalability and high availability.
- Ansible: Experience with Ansible for automating deployment and configuration tasks.
- YUM/DNF: Knowledge of YUM and DNF, as Pulp 3 is used to manage YUM repositories.
Education
Must be enrolled in an educational or professional program through summer 2025 or later.
