Job Summary
NetApp is seeking a Senior Director, Public Sector Strategy to spearhead our worldwide public sector go-to-market strategy and oversee the enablement and community management of NetApp’s Area Public Sector Sales leaders. This senior executive will work closely with Area Public Sector leaders and the VP of Global Government Relations to identify and evaluate new opportunities to expand our market presence in the Public Sector. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of the field’s needs and be proficient in driving corporate changes to meet those needs, as well as demonstrating expertise in developing and implementing key sales initiatives in a public sector environment. This role demands both a strategic vision and a hands-on approach.
Job Requirements
- Strategic Leadership: Develop a collaborative and customer-centric strategy to create a scalable go-to-market engine that aligns with NetApp’s strategic goals specific to growing the top Public Sector markets across the globe.
- Field Collaboration: Maintain strong relationships with field teams to collaboratively develop sales strategies and ensure their execution. Work closely with channel teams to align overall channel strategy with the vision. Collaborate with Professional Services, Customer Success, and Renewals teams to strengthen existing customer strategies and relationships.
- Go-to-Market Blueprint: Develop and implement go-to-market strategies to target, expand, and protect specific customer segments, supporting and accelerating NetApp’s revenue goals.
- Sales Plays and Use Cases: Create sales plays and technical use cases by vertical to drive productivity and business growth.
- KPI and Metrics Tracking: Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure the success of implemented strategies and initiatives.
- Global Team Leadership: Lead a global team that collaborates with local field teams to ensure accurate execution of developed strategies. Design customer-centric regional blueprints (e.g., organizational structures, roles, responsibilities) and go-to-market orchestration models, and develop and tailor corresponding sales plays and use cases.
- Strategic Initiatives: Define short and long-term strategic initiatives to achieve the outlined goals. Work directly under the Vice President, Global Segment Strategy and Planning to synthesize strategy across NetApp’s corporate vision and field operations.
Key Qualifications and Requirements
- Over 10 years in a sales leadership role or equivalent, with a proven track record of working collaboratively with both field and corporate teams and leaders.
- Experience owning P&L topline revenue responsibilities.
- Proven experience in developing and driving go-to-market strategies.
- Highly collaborative with the ability to build strong interpersonal relationships with peers and senior management throughout the company.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with experience in developing and tracking key success metrics.
- Deep understanding of the tech hardware/software/cloud market, including key products, players, and customer needs.
- Experience working with large accounts and managing large transactions.
- Experience working with channel partner organizations.
- Strong understanding of key sales tools and processes, including demand generation/marketing tech stack, forecasting, pipeline/CRM, account planning, and performance management.
- A college degree or equivalent background is required; an MBA is a plus.
