Title: Sr. Product Marketing Manager/Lead
US US
Job Summary
The Senior Product Marketing Manager will help define and bring to market a new category of enterprise data-processing technology. This person will own DataPelago's messaging, positioning, customer narratives, and go-to-market content while working closely with founders, product, engineering, the DataPelago sales team, and NetApp's Product Marketing organization.
This is not a role focused primarily on maintaining established messaging or executing a mature launch calendar. The Product Marketing Manager will help discover and articulate the market itself by identifying the strongest customer problems, refining buyer and use-case priorities, testing narratives, learning from early deals, and turning those insights into repeatable go-to-market plays.
The ideal candidate will bring a strong understanding of distributed data processing, data engineering, analytics, and AI infrastructure, plus a hands-on startup marketer mindset and experience operating in an established organization. They will help preserve DataPelago's speed and differentiated story while establishing messaging, enablement, and launch practices that can eventually scale across NetApp as the business matures.
Location: San Jose, California
About DataPelago and NetApp
DataPelago is building a new data-processing platform applying accelerated computing for the AI era. Its technology is designed to accelerate analytics and AI workloads by bringing high-performance compute closer to enterprise data.
Following its acquisition by NetApp, DataPelago combines the ownership, pace, and influence of an early-stage company with NetApp's global customer reach, resources, and enterprise relationships. DataPelago will continue operating with a focused, startup-style model while it builds a scalable business and go-to-market motion.
This is a zero-to-one environment. We are looking for builders who are energized by ambiguity, move quickly, work directly with customers, and take ownership beyond traditional role boundaries. The strongest candidates will ideally bring experience from both early-stage companies and established organizations. They will know how to build with speed while also creating the processes, partnerships, and operating discipline needed to scale successfully within a larger enterprise.
Job Responsibilities
- Develop clear, differentiated positioning for DataPelago and its accelerated data-processing platform.
- Translate complex technical capabilities into compelling customer, buyer, and business narratives, including performance, total cost of ownership (TCO), and infrastructure efficiency.
- Partner closely with NetApp's Product Marketing organization to align narratives, share market insights, coordinate launch and enablement activities, and prepare for future integration.
- Work with early customers and the DataPelago sales team to understand market needs, buying triggers, objections, and adoption barriers.
- Turn customer and field insights into messaging, sales plays, presentations, talk tracks, competitive guidance, and executive content.
- Support industry events, analyst engagement, and early product introductions.
- Partner with product and engineering to ensure messaging accurately reflects product capabilities and roadmap direction.
- Help determine which initial markets and use cases offer the strongest path to repeatable growth.
- Create enablement materials for DataPelago sellers and Solution Architects, coordinating with NetApp Product Marketing on materials intended for broader NetApp field and partner audiences.
- Test and refine messaging based on customer response, pipeline progress, competitive dynamics, and field feedback.
- Balance DataPelago's distinct identity and startup story with the reach and credibility of NetApp.
