Job Summary

The Automotive Industry is undergoing a massive change and finds itself being in the middle of a fundamental transformation. Connected, Autonomous Driving, Shared Services/Mobility and Electric Vehicles (often referred to as CASE) determine what the future will look like.

For NetApp, nearly a fourth of our global accounts are in the automotive, hi-tech, semiconductor, and service provider verticals. They are all actively chasing the autonomous driving and mobility services business today. On top of it, the Cloud has already changed how IT is consumed in many of the arising new fields of business. We see a dramatic shift in the decision making from corporate IT into the lines of (new) business. 

To focus on this incredible opportunity, we are creating a new initiative to be the data authority for the CASE revolution. Staffed within the Automotive Sales Vertical, the new role of the Pursuit Business Development Manager will align cross-vertical and company-wide. 

As such, he will work with Automotive Account teams in EMEA and around the globe to uncover, drive and win New Biz opportunities in existing Global accounts and the related emerging constellations companies.

In so doing the Pursuit Business Dev Mgr will:

  • SHAPE and EVANGELIZE our relevancy to the Automotive Industry, focusing on opportunities around the major 'CASE' trends (Connected, Autonomous, Shared Services/Mobility and Electric)
  • LEARN and AMPLIFY our customer-facing expertise to improve our selling motion 
  • UNCOVER and INFLUENCE leading technology companies & thought leaders
  • INITIATE and SECURE templates, whitepaper, references, and other critical content
  • UNCOVER and WIN POCs, trials and big purchases in the CASE space

The scope of responsibility of the Pursuit Business Dev Mgr Automotive will include

  • Consult, strategize and guide targeted CASE opportunities
  • Connect with key influencer in the industry and build a lasting network
  • Raise awareness for NetApps offerings beyond the traditional datacenter business
  • Align with the Automotive account teams to leverage all work, product and efforts
  • Coordinate with our Pathways team to leverage the ecosystem of Alliance and Partner solutions 
     
Job Requirements
  • Sales driven with a deep and profound understanding of the automotive industry
  • Strategic thinker but down to earth and ready to execute once the opportunity that is there
  • Understands his role as being a “strategic hunter” with the objective to identify opportunities at an early stage
  • Influences early in the sales cycle to allow NetApp to prepare for a wining approach (internaly and by aligning with key pathways)
  • Willing to pursue strategic opportunities with full accountability
  • Can translate business requirements into IT solutions and define NetApp's contribution
  • Is able to build business case scenarios to be presented internally with stakeholders and supporting functions (Business Units, Finance, Legal)
  • Works closely and result focused with NetApp's technical specialists team (Cloud, Big data, AI, ML, etc.)
  • Should identify, own and maintain relationships to the most important partners and pathways
  • Will be a sales business partner to the Automotive Global Account Executives
  • Coordinates and structures the various internal and external activities and aligns closely with US and APAC peers

 
 

Education
Typically requires a minimum of 12 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 8 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 5 years experience; or equivalent experience.
