Job Summary

Primary responsibilities for Audio Visual (AV) Engineer include research, design, implementation, Tier 3 troubleshooting, interface with NetApp Internal and Business unit contacts and ongoing lifecycle maintenance for various AV & streaming platforms. 

Includes conference room, large event space, production studio equipment and enterprise network streaming (both live and Video On Demand) equipment.  A profound understanding of the AV/IT convergence and the impact on changing Corporate AV/UC deployments.Secondary responsibilities include physical installation of various AV equipment, evaluate and install software/firmware updates, provide AV support for offsite events (e.g. NetApp conferences, Sales/Marketing, etc.)

Job Requirements

Core Requirements

  • A degree in Engineering or related field or equivalent experience in a relevant field
  • Flexibility and adaptability to work in a rapidly evolving field of AV/UC
  • An individual and team contributor in multiple projects
  • Ability to clearly explain and justify ideas when faced with competing alternatives
  • Ability to structure and present ideas/designs to team and leadership
  • Ability to organize and document processes/procedures of new systems
  • A self-starter who can flourish in a dynamic technology company
  • Experience in complex projects with division or company-wide scope
  • Remain current on emerging technologies and conduct independent research to support business needs and requirements
  • Ability to work effectively with other groups and teams within and outside IT
  • Experience working with vendors to manage troubleshooting and support coverage as well as technical discussions
  • Experience with an Enterprise grade IT Service Management platform (e.g. ServiceNow, Zendesk, Jira, Solarwinds, etc.)
  • Knowledge of Enterprise grade AV vendor solutions: large scale displays, projectors, screens, cameras, microphones, speakers, AV signal handling (switching, splitting, extension, etc.), control systems (e.g. Crestron, AMX, etc.)
  • Knowledge of Enterprise grade Production equipment: audio mixing boards, robotic cameras, video capture (lighting, green screen, virtual backgrounds, etc.) and video editing & editing software tools
  • Knowledge of Enterprise grade streaming platforms: encoders, decoders, VOD servers, audio & video IP-based codecs, Cloud CDNs, and Cloud-based streaming services
  • At least Basic knowledge of Enterprise Networking: OSI model, network hierarchy design, Layer 3 routing, Telnet/SSH, multicast / unicast, firewalls
  • Cursory knowledge of new & existing Cloud-based conferencing solutions

  • nKnowledge of Panapto and Akamai
  • Knowledge of Zoom conferencing and Zoom Room systems
Education

Typically requires a minimum of 8 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 6 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 3 years experience; or equivalent experience.
