Job Summary

As a Benefits Analyst you develop, maintain, administer and communicate NetApp’s benefit programs to NetApp employees including: plan options, policy features, enrollment and other requirements.  You will coordinate transfer of data to external contacts for services, premiums and plan administration; work effectively to make sure the plans run smoothly and is competitive; investigate discrepancies; and provide information in non-routine situations.  As a senior member of the benefits team, you will utilize your experience as a subject matter expert to positively influence team goals, as well as greater business outcomes. 

Essential Functions:

Benefit Analysts support benefits program development, implementation, administration and maintenance including:
 

  • Health and Welfare plans
    • Provide input on design, methodology, and costs as part of overall strategy recommendations and decisions. 
    • Monitor financials relative to plans, paying close attention to budget and trends.
    • Manage vendor partners.
  • Compliance
    • Responsible for compliance activities related to all programs.
    • Partner with consultants, legal and internal functional partners to ensure compliance with all regulations and filings pertaining to programs.
  • Open Enrollment
    • Partner with vendors to implement any plan design changes.
    • Project manage implementations of new vendors or programs, as applicable. 
    • Perform troubleshooting in the processing of employee benefits data in the system or retrieving information from the system. 
    • Create communications programs and implement. 
  • Benefits Eligibility
    • Occasionally coordinate input of urgent enrollments and changes directly into the insurance carriers’ on-line enrollment system. 
  • Benefits Administration
    • Develop and review communication materials, including online Summary Plan Descriptions for benefit plans, policies and procedures, and any online communications.
    • Read, interpret and help communicate content of insurance carrier contracts and explanation of benefits to employees.
    • Assist employees with escalated benefits-related questions and resolving issues as needed. 
  • Miscellaneous
    • Assist with department projects and initiatives as needed.

Job Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of health and welfare benefit programs, including medical, prescription, health savings accounts.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Excellent planning and organization skills, attention to detail, ability to handle multiple tasks, and work in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment.
  • Demonstrated project and time management skills. 
  • Working knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). 
  • Ability to work with a high degree of integrity and confidentiality.
  • Experience working with HR databases.
  • Strong and proven analytical skills.
  • Ability to build strong working relationships across all levels of the organization, including remote areas.
  • Responsibility
    • The tasks this individual is responsible for are often unstructured and the issues addressed are less defined requiring new perspectives and creative approaches.
    • This individual will apply attained experiences and knowledge in solving problems that are complex in scope requiring in-depth evaluation. 
    • Demonstrate good judgment in solving problems as well as identifying problems in advance, and proposing solutions.
  • Interaction:
    • This individual must work effectively with Staff to Vice President level employees within the function, across functions and with external parties.
    • Limited supervision and direction is provided, as this individual can operate and drive results and set priorities independently.
    • The ideal candidate will be a proactive contributor and subject matter expert.

Education

  • A minimum of 8 years of experience is required; 9 to 11 years of experience is preferred.
  • A Bachelor of Arts or Sciences Degree is required; a focus on Human Resources preferred; or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to have completed multiple, complex technical projects.
