Job Summary

NetApp’s Business Management Service organization is looking to fill a role in its Product Pricing and Strategy team. The Pricing Manager will be responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining the pricing and discounting strategies for the NetApp family of products. The Pricing Manager will ensure that the implanted strategies align with product positioning, competitive offerings, business unit margin objectives, and any specific geographic objectives. In this role, you will help drive business and strategy decisions with your superb analytics, business modeling and market research skills.

Job Requirements

The successful candidate will be able to make pricing and discounting recommendations backed by sound data driven analysis. They will also understand pricing setting and price getting methodologies as it relates to working with Sales and Sales operations teams.

This individual will be efficient in managing multiple projects simultaneously, including developing insights into market trends, customer needs, and competitive positioning. They will continuously optimize existing pricing setting and getting structures, innovate in new pricing strategies, offering and business models, all focused on driving revenue and margin growth.

As the Pricing Manager, you will work as part of a team focused on defining and implementing pricing strategies for new products through value-based pricing and market based competitive analysis. You will build sound financial models and business cases and forecasts to support your pricing strategy.

Key success factors will include:

  • Ability to work cross functionality with Product owners, Finance and Sales Operations teams in defining and implementing pricing
  • Ability to identify causes and factors of business challenges as related to pricing
  • Ability to drive solutions through price adjustment, pricing model changes, cost adjustments and or other relevant tactics
  • Ability to drive cross group consensus
  • Ability to present pricing proposal to executives for approval, adjust plan based on feedback and collaborate with cross function teams to address concerns from other stake holders
  • Ability to manage the geographic specific pricing adjustments
  • Ability to work across functions to plan and launch new prices and price changes end-to-end, delivering both internal and external communication.
  • 5+ years combined experience in the Enterprise Storage or related (Compute or Networking) industries
  • 3+ years of experience in product Pricing, billing, metering and or Subscription model ideally in the Enterprise Hardware or Software arena.
  • Understanding of the Storage market and strong competitive view point of customer demands and market needs as they relate to Enterprise Storage needs and the benefits / trade-offs of different pricing model and profit optimization.
  • A mix of strong business and technical skillsets
  • Experience with BI & Reporting products, specifically the ability to define what questions will be asked of the data, and distill them to metric & dimension (filtering & aggregation) needs.
  • Ability to look at a report or raw data source and detect data patterns and anomalies
  • Get your hands dirty with the data to prove or debunk your hypothesis.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills – must be comfortable speaking in public and advocating and defending your positions verbally

Education

  • BS in Business or Engineering
  • Graduate degree (e.g. MS, MBA) preferred
  • Detail oriented with a bias for action and follow through
  • Deep understanding of the Enterprise Storage market preferred
