Title:  Director, Operations Planning

Job Summary


This is a key leadership position, reporting to the VP of Operations Planning. This position will require an experienced S&OP / SIOP leader able to facilitate and drive his/her team to results in a challenging environment, leveraging strong interpersonal and leadership skills.


This role will be challenged with evolving his/her organization into a world class sales, inventory and operations planning team across the enterprise to improve customer satisfaction, profitability, inventory turns and working capital.


Key to success in this position is the ability to develop people and to improve and lead NetApp’s S&OP, demand planning and inventory management processes, yielding improved value/experience for customers and enhanced revenue/margin growth for the business.


Responsibilities include:


Develop Processes and People

  • Drive the continued evolution of global S&OP, demand planning and inventory management processes for all of NetApp as part of the company’s transformation.
  • Identify and develop key talent.
  • Manage team to identify, develop, and implement best of breed processes and tools.
  • Develop planning processes tailored to address new streams of business.


Run Key Processes

  • Manage team to execute all facets of the S&OP, demand planning, and inventory management cycles to optimize customer service levels and financial performance.
  • Represent operations in forums across NetApp.
  • Work across silos in the company to achieve strong business outcomes.
  • Recommend and maintain optimal inventory levels at various stages in the supply chain.
  • Provide demand planning input into forecasting cycle and demand planning output into NetApp’s global supply management function.

Job Requirements

  • Strong leadership skills
  • Ability to develop strategy and then take concrete steps to operationalize it
  • Extensive experience in demand planning, S&OP, and inventory management
  • Ability to influence leaders across sales, product management, finance, and operations
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven track record as developer of people
  • Proven track record in process development and implementation
  • Ability to manage team to produce high quality, timely, relevant work product
  • Strong team player with demonstrated ability to collaborate across functions, sometimes virtually
  • Strong analytical and problem solving / decision-making skills
  • Rigorous and reliable


  • Minimum of ten years’ business experience required
  • Experience in storage or related industry preferred
  • Bachelor’s Degree Required
