Job Summary

NetApp’s Systems Product Management Team is looking to fill a role for strategic pricing for the ONTAP business unit. The Principal Product Manager for pricing will be responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining the pricing strategies for the NetApp family of ONTAP based storage products. In addition he / she will be the key liaison between the Sales / Marketing organization to gather competitive pricing intelligence and manage field discounts to meet our Corporate Business goals.

The Pricing Manager will ensure that pricing strategies align with product positioning, overall GTM and are optimized to achieve business objectives. In this role, you will drive business and strategy decisions with your superb analytics, business modeling and market research skills.

Job Requirements

  • The successful candidate will be able to make pricing, business and strategy recommendations, backed by sound analysis and data, as well as understand pricing challenges in the shifting storage and technology markets
  • This individual will also be efficient in managing multiple projects simultaneously spanning existing products, new products (systems and standalone software)
  • Develop insights from competitive pricing data and define new processes to capture street prices across deals in Americas, EMEA and Asia Pacific.
  • Actively manage existing pricing structure, and field discounts to drive revenue and margin growth
  • Monitor and track product street prices and work with product managers to enable value selling or evaluate pricing changes to capture market share
  • Assist the product management team in building financial analyses and business cases/forecasts for existing and new products (appliances, services and support)
  • Present pricing proposal to executives for approval, adjust pricing plan based on feedback and collaborate with cross function teams to address concerns from other stake holders.
  • Support core Product Managers in new product releases.
  • Work across functions to enable the field on communicating pricing models to customers and defending the strategy. The candidate will need to develop training collateral



Bachelor or master degree in business, marketing, finance or similar areas. MBA is a strong plus.
10+ years of experience in product management, pricing, and/or other relevant roles.

  1. Knowledge of how to price storage systems (hardware, software, services and support / renewals)
  2. Analytical skills to look at competitive and historical data to derive change to strategy
  3. Deep financial knowledge to model scenarios and pricing structures
  4. Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills
  5. Excellent process analysis, mapping skills, and ability to change processes to drive efficiency
