Job Description

This Sr. Program Manager will own and manage the end-to-end program management of NetApp’s key growth initiatives in the Cloud BU identified by the CEO and executive leadership team.  This position will report directly to the Director of Growth Initiatives in the Corporate office.  Key responsibilities include working cross-functional with all stakeholders to identify and gain alignment around a set of deliverables and program milestones that lead to strategic solutions for Software as a Service in the Cloud BU and NetApp as a company. Stakeholders could be internal to NetApp or external customers, vendors and partners.

 The incumbent will lead the cross-functional team from concept, design, implementation to launch the product/service in the market while working within the guidelines and cadence define by the Program Management Office (PMO).

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Own program management of key initiatives, delivery and results
  • Partner with business owner and PMO office with setting and enforcing strategic direction for program (guiding principles, themes, and success metrics)
  • Enable cooperation and alignment in the program across all roles and functions
  • Responsible for understanding and communicating current and future resource needs of program
  • Build deep and productive working relationships with senior-level business and shared services partners; challenging business assumptions and offering a point of view to assist in the decision-making process
  • Provide senior leaders updates regarding deployment progress, results and feedback regarding program
  • Identify important issues and risks, recommend options, build business cases, facilitate and negotiate individual and team decisions. Requires an understanding of stakeholder motivations, politics and impacts to the organization
  • Utilize effective project management, business process management, team building and change achieve business results
  • Manage financial aspects of projects and project delivery through validated bookings and ROI.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field or equivalent work experience
  • 10+ years of recent work experience leading large and complex cross functional projects and  product implementations
  • Proven ability to quickly learn complex business and/or technological concepts
  • Ability to effectively navigate a highly-matrixed organization
  • Proven ability to quickly earn the trust of sponsors and key executive-level stakeholders
  • Ability to broker consensus in contentious or politically sensitive situations
  • Proven ability to understand and lead assessment efforts across a portfolio or enterprise
  • Ability to understand project and resource interdependencies within a program or portfolio
  • Ability to communicate and influence at all levels of the organization with clarity and precision
  • Proven people-leadership skills to include coaching, guiding and performance management
  • Excellent change management and mentorship skills, providing guidance as you help lead teams through transformation
  • Demonstrated strategic skill-set: able to synthesize and translate internal and external customer inputs, business performance metrics and strategic directives into projects and action plans
  • Results oriented: proven track record in delivering results; Demonstrated ability to take initiative and work with minimal direction
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly, concisely, logically, tactfully, and effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • Excellent presentation and group facilitation skills
  • PC Skills: fluent in Microsoft Office applications
  • Demonstrated ability to mitigate risks proactively and resolve issues; and escalate when appropriate
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate to, negotiate with, and influence senior business leaders

 

Nice to have

  • 5+ years of experience in an Agile environment
  • Experience in managing Service Lifecycle programs

Education

Typically requires a minimum of 10 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 8 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 5 years experience; or equivalent experience.
