Job Summary

This position is for Data Center Engineer with some networking skills. You will work as part of a highly technical team of professionals who support the day-to-day management and operations of NetApp’s Critical Data Centers.
In this you will be responsible for current and ongoing data center technologies and identify new avenues of technologies that support the highly technical teams’ ability to contribute positively to department goals and objectives.

Job Requirements

The Data Center Engineer is an advanced data center position working on delivering solutions for the data center infrastructure, cabling, power management and new technical designs within our operational and engineering environment. Specific areas of responsibilities include:
 

  • Work with all technical towers (Compute, Network, Security & Storage) to ensure new technologies get deployed in a manner that aligns with our overall data center strategy.
  • Mastery of DC space design, power management design, cable plant design and in-depth knowledge of capacity management (Space, Power, Financial, etc.)
  • Provide on-site critical troubleshooting for LAN, WAN and Telecom systems in the event of a critical issue.
  • Work with build team engineers to plan for project hardware installations into the DC.
  • Provide local and global design and implementation for projects that support the local, regional or global technical efforts that support NetApp business and growth.
  • Work independently within a secured structured space (Data Center) both owned by NetApp and or leased by NetApp in a Co-Location Data Center
  •  “Jack-of-all-trades” with basic ability to install OS for storage and compute and perform basic network and network services configuration of those devices
Education

Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree or a Technical Trade Degree or related courses in computer science, or equivalent is required.; 5 or more years of experience in Data Centers is required with comprehensive understanding of power in an enterprise data center environment. Solid knowledge and understanding of Service Now, it’s CMDB, CI and Demand and project management modules.
