Job Summary

The Senior Revenue Accountant is a key member of the revenue team responsible for ensuring all revenue is accounted for in accordance with ASC 606 guidelines.  Activities are performed on a daily, monthly and quarterly basis and involve a variety of tasks, a sampling of which include:

  • Identifying and interpreting standard and non-standard agreement terms
  • Verifying that the proper accounting treatment was applied to all transacted orders
  • Placement and release of revenue reserves and calculation of reserve requirements
  • Periodic calculation of SSP rates
  • Review and assessment of accounting rules assigned to part numbers
  • Review of fair value allocations
  • Monthly close processes including:
    • Monthly and quarterly account analysis
    • Deferred revenue analysis
    • Monitoring, tracking and accounting for revenue reserves
    • Analysis and accounting for special promotions
    • Contract Modification accounting
    • Journal entries
    • Preparation and or review of account reconciliations
    • Analysis of non-standard transactions
    • Support business review and managements revenue reporting
  • Quarterly disclosures
  • Monthly data validations between ERP and Revenue Accounting systems
  • Compliance with revenue SOX controls
  • Ad hoc analysis


Job Requirements
  • Strong understanding of the principles of revenue recognition: ASC606
  • Working knowledge of US GAAP and accounting operations
  • Able to articulate technical revenue accounting guidance and apply to real world situations
  • Ability to collaborate with the rest of the Revenue Team and establish strong cross-functional working relationship with other departments
  • Attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to meet firm deadlines
  • Must have great problem-solving skills, be a self-starter, understand business issues and be able to clearly and concisely put together recommendations and implementation plans
  • Ability to multi-task while still completing recurring responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to complete ad hoc projects and analysis, answering questions from business partners and evaluating strategic opportunities
  • Prepare supporting schedules and process overviews for external audit
  • Assist in supporting quarterly revenue forecasting
  • Prepare ad hoc reporting for finance, sales, services, etc.
  • Document key processes and desk procedures and cross-train on routine tasks and reporting
  • Participate in implementation of process enhancements
  • Support system upgrades and related projects including user acceptance testing
  • Provide back-up coverage when teammates are out of office
  • Detail oriented, organized, able to prioritize work and meet deadlines
  • Handle large volumes of data in a fast-paced organization
  • Perform root cause analysis
  • Experience in a high-tech company


  • Bachelor’s degree Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • CPA Preferred
  • A minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, with an emphasis on revenue accounting
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Proficiency with Excel (advanced functions)
  • Experience with RevPro and Oracle preferred
