As a Senior Commodity Manager, you will be responsible for the following:

  • The overall general management of all relationship, operational, and commercial aspects of your assigned components and corresponding suppliers.

Critical Responsibilities:

  • All commercial items with your suppliers and components they sell NetApp: Price, T&Cs, MOQs, Lead Times, SMI, all contracts/agreements, performance, and negotiations
  • Relentless focus on price/COGs reductions (gross margin protection), cost avoidance, and lowest total cost of ownership

  • Establish, document & drive adherence to a formal commodity Sourcing Strategy (co-developed with your cross functional commodity management team (engineering, quality, NPI, etc.…)
  • Rationalize NetApp’s suppliers in terms of supplier ranking, spend distribution, along with short and long term sourcing plans
  • Manage RFPs and the supplier section processes
  • Work closely with Engineering to influence design decisions to meet technical capabilities, business objectives, and to align with Strategy
  • Supplier relationship management: regular business reviews, score carding, roadmap interlocks, etc..
  • Drive suppliers’ alignment to NetApp’s technology roadmaps & requirements
  • Drive Innovation to enhance strategic value
  • Develop creative solutions to achieve best-in-class lead-times, lowest cost of ownership, MOQ & overall flexibility in the supply chain


Monthly tracking and reporting on cost savings status and projections.

  • Lead & manage cross functional, commodity management team ensuring proper information sharing & joint decision making
  • Drive supplier performance & improvement through structured & balanced score cards & formal business review meetings (QBRs and technical interlocks)
  • Drive, track, and report on closure to performance improvement action items
  • Be the escalation point to your supplies for increased/expedited support (i.e. for shortage, epidemic failure, safety/compliance, allocation, stop ship, NPI schedule alignment ..)
  • Drive, track, and report on shortage resolution until it has been resolved
  • Ensure suppliers’ supply capacity/model is aligned to NetApp’s demand requirements
  • Ensure suppliers are contractually bound (NDA/MSA/SLA/SOW/Epidemic failure) including validated BCP/Risk Mitigation plans
  • Monitor business impact analysis on component and suppliers (suppliers’ financial risk, component EOLs, M&A, Geo/environmental events & risk to supply, market dynamics, …)
  • Monitor current commodity market conditions to identify potential supply challenges and develop supply continuity plan
  • Minimum of 12 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 8 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 5 years experience; or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in Supply Chain, Procurement and Commodity Management, or Product Management and Sales
  • Knowledge of electronic commodities and high tech industry; including knowledge of CPUs, FPGAs, networking ICs/merchant silicon, HBAs, NICs, or switch appliances
  • Successfully managed the main suppliers in the above listed commodities
  • Experience in supplier management processes
  • Experience in sales or product management in the above-mentioned commodities is desirable
  • Proven procurement experience, project management, and demonstrated capability to work and influence people within cross functional environments
  • Great communication skills; Well-spoken and proven experience speaking to upper management and in larger cross functional meetings
  • Experience working in Agile is desirable
  • Able to drive and influence change
  • Must be detail oriented, analytical, process savvy, customer focused, able to prioritize a large que of workload, and flexible to changing business requirements.
  • Skilled in PPT and Excel
