Title:  Director, Corporate Strategy

Job Summary & Responsibilities

The Corporate Strategy team works closely with NetApp’s top executives and our two business units (Hybrid Cloud and Public Cloud Services) to ensure that the company stays on its profitable growth trajectory. The team is playing an active role in some of NetApp’s boldest and most strategic decisions. Today, NetApp is leading the way in how our customers get the most out of their data with industry-leading cloud data services, storage systems, and software. This strategy has translated into exceptional financial performance and stock price appreciation.

As a Director, you will join a highly entrepreneurial team, including alumni from top management consulting firms and professionals in Enterprise IT. The Corporate Strategy team is part of NetApp’s Corporate Strategy Office, alongside the M&A team. We exclusively focus on NetApp’s long-range strategy, operational improvement and market intelligence. You will be responsible for leading and driving multiple corporate strategy programs, managing the relationship with several top executives across the company, and will gradually specialize in one of NetApp’s business units. This position provides unparalleled senior executive exposure, and is often the avenue to unique operational roles at NetApp.

Job Requirements

Responsibilities include:

• Implementing and driving strategic programs including (but not exclusively) annual strategic planning, formalizing the portfolio management framework, designing a KPI framework, identifying attractive market adjacencies, diagnosing channel effectiveness, etc.
• Providing project teams with guidance on scope, prioritization, and approach to deliver business impact on high priority issues
• Synthesizing inputs, identifying critical insights and developing compelling recommendations for both Corporate Strategy and NetApp-wide audiences
• Coaching and developing team members to achieve their own development goals and potential
• Building the Corporate Strategy team’s brand within NetApp

Required work experience and skills

• Track record of successfully helping organizations identify and set the direction toward their most important goals and partnering with C-Suite executives to help turn ambitious goals into business impact
• Experience in designing and implementing strategic programs, and driving to outcomes
• Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with executive leadership teams
• Demonstrated ability to lead discussions and facilitate cross-functional teams through complex brainstorming and decision-making processes
• Relentless but collaborative – ensuring that debates and discussions not only lead to good outcomes for all involved, but also set a positive tone for cross-functional teams
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, while staying focused on the big picture
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong presence in front of senior executives
• Creative problem solver with a bias for action
• Intellectual curiosity and a passion for understanding the fundamental drivers of business success and competitive advantage
• Strong people development and leadership skills; able to manage multiple extended or virtual teams

Background & Education

• 12+ years of total professional experience with growing levels of responsibility
• At least 4 years in strategy consulting and/or industry experience in business operations or corporate strategy group, this experience must include overseeing complex strategy projects
• Experience in Software, Cloud or Infrastructure technologies desirable
• Bachelor's degree and excellent academic record; advanced graduate degree (e.g., MBA, PhD, etc.) typically preferred
