Job Summary
As a Senior Director of Core WAFL, you will utilize strong management and technical competencies to set objectives and develop strategies for your Engineering group. You will work with executive level management and have the opportunity to directly impact the success of the function in meeting NetApp’s goals. You will provide direction and leadership to subordinate level managers and engineering professionals focused on innovation for NetApp core storage technologies, including anything related to productization/roll out. As part of the Research and Development function, the overall focus of the group is on competitive market and customer requirements, technology advances, product quality, product cost and time-to-market.
Location preferred to be in Sunnyvale, CA but will consider other Netapp site locations for the right candidate.
Job Requirements
Essential Functions:
- Drive the vision and execution for a long term view of the WAFL architecture and technology stack as it pertain to our hybrid on-prem/cloud storage strategy execution on all hyperscalers platforms
- Design, develop and implement strategies+plans that impact the long-term performance and competitiveness of the organization as a whole.
- Utilize previous technical, project management, and people management experience to provide direction to senior managers to lead our global developments teams
- Planning, staffing, budgeting, and managing expenses of the organization
Requirements:
- Extensive experience in managing large storage software organizations with strong affinities to On-Prem storage system and Cloud storage trends. The ideal candidate must have a balance of strategic and operational skills
- Location preferred to be in Sunnyvale, CA but will consider other Netapp site locations for the right candidate.
- An in-depth understanding of advanced computing concepts related to distributed system architecture, hyperscalers/Cloud platforms. While the focus is of the position is in management, the ideal candidate must remain very technical.
- WAFL being a shared component for NetApp the position does require to be very skilled in negotiation and collaboration across a large set of teams in various product groups.
- Prior experience with developing budgets and controlling costs
Education
- A minimum of 10 years of experience as a people manager is required.
- A Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science, a Master Degree, or a PhD; or equivalent experience is required.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple, critical projects at large scale is required. Multi-site management is s must.
