Job Summary

Vice President Corporate Communications

As the VP, Corporate Communications, you will lead the communications strategy for NetApp at a critical moment in our company’s history. With explosive growth in our cloud portfolio powering our business performance, this is a unique opportunity to craft the NetApp story and bring it into focus for all our stakeholders. By elevating the NetApp story for press, analysts, industry thought leaders, employees, partners and our customers, the right storyteller will be able to significantly impact business performance in the coming years.
You will be a driven and engaged senior leader with a successful track record of building and leading communications programs globally. Reporting to the SVP and Chief Marketing Officer, you must have experience across public and analyst relations, social media, executive communications, crisis communications, employee communications and thought leadership campaigns, as well as advising executive leadership.
You will collaborate with executives from across the organization to ensure NetApp solutions are understood and differentiated in the market. Based on your deep communications knowledge, relationships with media, and ability to see trends and build narratives, you will ensure we have a clear story that is compelling for all internal and external audiences.

Strategy

  • Define the Corporate Communications vision and strategy and lead the team to deliver extraordinary results on a global basis.
  • Serve as the trusted advisor to CEO staff in the development communications that influence a range of internal and external audiences
  • Proactively build communications campaigns to advance the company's mission, strategy, results and culture
  • Integrate and link the communications efforts across all NetApp functions
  • Lead an experienced global media relations team to deliver breakthrough PR across business and trade media
  • Develop thoughtful narratives and raise the profiles of executive leaders through our Executive Communications function
  • Leverage and cultivate a network of deep media and agency relationships to improve visibility of NetApp across key audiences
  • Lead a cross-regional effort, in collaboration with regional counterparts, that results in a cohesive and effective global approach to public relations
  • Build new programs that can scale with the business to ensure we have a thoughtful storytelling approach across multiple product lines and solution areas
  • Develop strategies that help our news breakthrough in a crowded market. Educate business, technology press, and other influencers about NetApp.
  • Manage ongoing executive communications opportunities including media briefings, speaking engagements, and customer and partner activities as needed
  • Lead, develop, mentor and scale a high performing communications team

  • Skill in developing and refining key messages and positioning to address a range of audiences
  • Ability to absorb complex information to create clear and compelling communications
  • Strong understanding of various communications vehicles and how best to integrate them into internal and external communications 
  • Ability to understand and translate the enterprise industry landscape, corporate positioning, and technology footprint into a communications strategy
  • Adept at advocating external positioning and brand to internal stakeholders
  • Ability to think globally, with cultural sensitivity
  • A self-starter with the energy, motivation, and professionalism to get things done, and done well
