Job Summary

BMC Software Development Engineer: Plans, designs, develops and tests BMC release for software enhancements and new products. From the newest ideas in cluster computing to the latest web framework, NetApp software products embrace innovation to deliver compelling solutions to our business. BMC engineer reports to HW develop team. The role is making sure the BMC release from JDM/ODM vendor partner fulfill the requirements for both NetApp production and HW validation test. 

The additional requirement of this role is software project management to share the schedule management loading of the HW related software/firmware (diagnostics/BIOS/BMC/automation test tool) handled by Taipei HW develop team.

This position requires an individual to be creative, team-oriented, a quick learner and driven to produce results.  
 
Essential Functions:
- Modifying and maintaining existing systems
- Responsible for providing support in development and testing activities of other engineers
- BMC coding
- Testing and/or Unit Testing
- Test automation
- Debugging on BMC source code
- Software project management
- Participate in technical discussions within the team associated with specific projects
- Write document or wiki to make the finished work recorded for information sharing
- Willing to work on additional tasks and responsibilities that contribute towards team, department, and company goals, as directed by manager

- Strong oral and written communication skills

- Familiarity with basic concepts of computer architecture, data structures and standard programming practices
- Follow standard engineering principles and practices
- Utilize basic knowledge from relevant engineering education and through internships
- Creative approach to problem solving
- Strong skill in C/C++ programming
- Strong skill in Linux kernel driver and shell script
- Strong skill in AMI BMC coding & debugging
 
Responsibility and Interaction:
- Responsibility:  
- Responsible for well defined tasks that utilize and build understanding of standard engineering principals and practices within a team environment
- Receive defined short-term tasks with specific delivery dates
- Complete assigned tasks in a timely manner
 
Interaction:
- Interact primarily with direct manager and the technical team on assigned projects
- Regular and detailed direction is provided, as well as on-going review of activities and priorities
- Participate as an important contributor to team project
Education

- Typically requires a minimum of 7 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 5 years and a Master’s degree; or equivalent work experience in EE/ Material Engineering/ Component Engineering/ Computer Engineering.
