The Engagement Manager (EM) is responsible for understanding customer technical and business requirements, creating a NetApp services solution that articulates methodology, technical scope and pricing, and driving deal closure. Support an annual consulting service goal

  • Builds and influences relationships with Sales Reps, System Engineers, Sales Management, Partners and Customers.
  • Achieves trusted adviser work status with the account team and customers.
  • Understands sales and account strategies and positions PS to deliver a total solution.
  • Fully positions and assists in the sale of consulting services to enterprise class companies, putting large consulting and residency deals together.
  • Manages complex consulting services through engagement sales cycles.
  • Determines business requirements, understands critical success factors, internal capabilities, timelines, and current infrastructure to successfully position projects/programs
  • Working pre-sales positioning, sizing, scoping and crafting of deals.
  • Leverages technical architects and consultants to craft solutions accurately.
  • Creates and delivers the compelling value proposition for consulting services tied to a deal
  • Accountable for accuracy of sizing and scoping of PS deals.
  • Negotiates, creates Statement of Work (SOW), drives SOW review process, working with senior management for approval
  • Works within Professional Services to deliver and transition detailed SOW to delivery team once sold.
  • Active participant and focused on account team planning sessions solutions for customers.
  • Maintains an opportunity pipeline and forecast.

Job Requirements

・ 5年以上の技術分野におけるプリセールス経験または5年以上のプロジェクトマネジメント経験


・ITプロジェクトに関する知見 (受注・要件定義・設計・構築・テスト・検収のサイクル)




  • Strong ability to interface at Executive level and above.
  • Data storage or systems integration/management experience required. 
  • 6+ years of managing large billable projects for external customers
  • Excellent ability to communicate effectively both verbally and written  
  • Technical background sufficient to understand the technologies and technical issues involved with the product
  • Ability to define problems collects data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Strong ability to translate very complex storage solutions or strategies into simple to understand clear concepts and objectives for project execution
  • Excellent presentation skills required
  • Japanese Language skill is Must to have for this role to engage with client and partner.  English language skill is also Must to have in order to communicate internally.


  • 5+  years experience in a similar role as a Project Manager or Service Deal Shaper
  • Formal Project Management certificating desired e.g. PMI
  • Data storage or systems management experience
