NetApp's Vancouver Technology Center is pioneering the development of AWS and cloud compatible object storage software to handle the exponential growth in big data. We are looking for an experienced software development manager who works alongside a group of talented developers to impart your vision and launch the latest cloud storage software. Your passion to lead engineering teams through design, implementation, and support will help solve our customer’s big data challenges. You are opinionated while flexible and know when to adopt new technologies.
We are true believers of Agile development and have been on the journey for many years. Since you maintain supreme levels of communications with your peers, we won’t inundate you with process and documentation.

Essential Functions:
- Work closely with product management and customers to build the best product
- Facilitate product design, implementation, and support including getting hands-on as needed
- Remove impediments preventing product development
- Manage and mentor a team of software engineers

Job Requirements

- A track record of "followership" - people want to work for and with you
- Made decisions under pressure and prioritize competing demands
- Recognize and resolve problems at root- cause level
- Multiple years of success as a manager of software engineers
- Coach individuals and teams, deal promptly and effectively with poor performance
- Develop positive working relationships with other teams and organizations
- Experience with C/C++, Linux, HTTP, and distributed systems
- Experience with Agile, TDD, and continuous integration

Education

- 8+ years of experience as an individual contributor.
- 4+ years of hands-on technical leadership and people management.
- A Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science, a Master Degree, or a PhD; or equivalent experience is required.
